KIM HEE WOO

THE BORN-AGAIN

PROSECUTOR

IN
AGAIN MY LIFE

CRANK

THE EXCITEMENT

UP

SEVERAL NOTCHES

One of the Again My Life stills released by SBS recently catches one completely by surprise. It shows Kim Hee Woo, played by Lee Joon Gi, smiling charmingly despite blood dripping from his forehead. It cannot be stressed enough that the multihyphenate megastar looks quite the suave, charming and gorgeous prosecutor even with the wound. The promotion for SBS’ Again My Life or AgainMa is really heating up the excitement skyward with the stills of Kim Hee Woo.

The Internet is already flooded with promotional videos, posters, news, articles, debates, discussions, fan-made videos and posters about the upcoming drama. The flurry of excitement has spread at such a fast and furious pace that it is difficult for one to keep up.

Another Again My Life still shows a determined Kim Hee Woo at the wheels of his car. One can imagine his dazzling entrance at the opening of the drama. He is probably heading for a showdown with Jo Tae Sup in his first life. Instead of that, would it be his fateful meeting with Death?

According to the manhwa, Kim Hee Woo was murdered when, in his first life, he had a head-to-head clash with Jo Tae Sup, the most powerful politician. The righteous but naïve prosecutor died a horrible death masterminded by the evil politician. Dr. K, the assassin, a career criminal, played by Hyun Woo Sung, would probably make Kim Hee Woo’s death appear like a suicide.

Had the justice system worked, Jo Tae Sup would be serving time in prison. It is not easy to uncover conspiracies which involves politicians and prosecutors and send them to prison. Kim Hee Woo was reckless and indiscreet in his investigations and he paid with his life. Even if Jo Tae Sup was caught then, the punishment in the turnstile justice system would be outrageously lenient.

By a miracle, Kim Hee Woo is resurrected; he is given another chance by a mysterious character to plan and strategize on how to drag the powerful criminals down the crooked political and prosecution ladder. Kim Hee Woo understands what is at stake. It would not be easy but it’s not like it is a leap into the unknown for him; he has been there before.

So, what’s the timeline like? Kim Hee Woo was born in 1980. He was 42 years old when he was murdered. He returned to 1997.

In 1997, he was 17 years old, a student in High School.

Therefore, Kim Hee Woo has travelled back 25 years in time.

One troubling question besets the drama fans. Why was Kim Hee Woo given another shot at life by The Grim Reaper or The Angel of Death? Is it a chance for him to take personal revenge for his murder that happened in his previous life? Or perhaps, it is not personal; he is given the mission to reset the past for the greater good of society.

Although fans have access to the Again My Life manhwa or novel, some are perplexed about whether Kim Hee Woo belongs to The Future, The Past or The Present and how the story will be brought to life.

Some believe that Kim Hee Woo has returned from The Future to The Past in order to change The Future. The Future is where he belongs. A new dawn awaits him and he would still be alive.

Others, who beg to differ, are convinced that he belongs to The Present and he is looking back at The Past. Think of Robert Frost's, The Road Not Taken. Kim Hee Woo is at the junction of a forked road. His choice determines his Future.

Or, perhaps Kim Hee Woo is in The Past. The Future just never happened.

One thing is certain. Viewers would soon be surprised by the dramatic narrative transformation from text to screen when Again My Life premieres on 8 April 2022. Lee Joon Gi will impress the viewers with his remarkable performance and Again My Life will be another drama masterpiece.
