The Action-Packed Second Teaser of Again My Life

THE ACTION-PACKED

SECOND

TEASER

OF

AGAIN MY LIFE

SBS released the second teaser of Again My Life (AgainMa) which is spearheaded by Han Chul Soo on 25 March 2022. The teaser shows that Kim Hee Woo’s death is not really the end. The End is The Beginning. Kim Hee Woo, played by the gorgeous megastar, Lee Joon Gi, is miraculously resurrected; it is the beginning of new things. The teaser highlights Kim Hee Woo's key strategies in his grim determination to succeed. It showcases exciting action scenes executed by Kim Hee Woo to rout rivals and enemies and emphasizes the beginnings of friendships that establish his network of future alliances and support. Of all the most important preparations is physical training. It is the test of the survival of the fittest.

If and when Kim Hee Woo succeeds, he would have rewritten history and the Future where he came from simply wouldn’t exist anymore. To triumph over his enemies, Kim Hee Woo must wear many hats: Prosecutor. University Student. Mixed Martial Arts Fighter. Real Estate Apprentice / Mentee. Real Estate Businessman. Mentor / Tutor / Friend. Boss. Mole. Secret Club Member. Employee / Part-timer. And so on and so forth.

The drama has diverged slightly from the manhwa. So, what’s the timeline? When the story opens, the year should be 2022. The 35-year-old prosecutor, who was born in 1987, then travelled back 15 years in time to when he is a 20-year-old first year undergraduate. His slate is wiped clean and he is given a fresh start. His emergence in 2007 is the beginning of changes. Kim Hee Woo’s voiceover narration predicts the rewriting of history. ‘Ever since my return to life, the fates of other people have started changing.’

The viewers expect him not to make mistakes but succeed. He will make the world a better place. And hence, the Again My Life title, tells us that Kim Hee Woo’s life is a gain. A Gain, My Life. A gain to his country.

It is obvious that Kim Hee Woo's primary mission and goal is to obtain justice, not personal revenge. Personal revenge, a secondary issue, is the bonus. He is given a new lease on life by a mysterious woman, The Lady in Red, in exchange for the promise that he would use his second life to take Jo Tae Sup down and punish him. His mission is to change The Future. It is difficult to picture Kim Hee Woo as a calculating, scheming and manipulative man who knows what he wants and manoeuvres his allies to help him achieve his goal of Justice, Crime and Punishment, the themes of the drama. Driven and obsessed by his promise to bring Jo Tae Sup and his evil cronies down one by one, and reset The Future, will Kim Hee Woo turn into a monster?  If the Future is changed, he will still be alive.

Kim Hee Woo understands the strategies to achieve victory. He needs strength: Physical. Mental. Social. etc. He needs physical training in martial arts. He also needs to drastically to sharpen his mind and broaden his knowledge. Studying law is a breeze as he has been through it before. But he adds other subjects to his repertoire of knowledge, including real estate.

THE ACTION SCENES

Physical training is the most important when dealing with future hoodlums and assassins. Lee Joon Gi’s physicality, athleticism and flexibility are shown to great advantage in the training scenes and fight scenes prior to taking on Dr K.

Kim Hee Woo runs and runs. He plunges on even if running becomes a torture. He also practises boxing. His punishing training serves him in good stead.

MARTIAL ARTS AND DANCE

THE CAGED TIGER and Caged Fighting. The rage of Kim Hee Woo is reflected in the caged animal in the fighting ring. He resembles an enraged animal in a zoo. He raises his arms, roaring and snarling triumphantly like a ferocious man-eating tiger. His teeth look like fangs. It is some kind of mixed martial arts match in a cage. It seems Kim Hee Woo is doing a war dance in the cage.

Kim Hee Woo must have trained in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, grappling etc. The fight will make hearts pound like the sledgehammer. You can even hear the thunderous roars of the crowd in the scene.

THE TIGER UNCAGED. What happens to The Tiger when he’s uncaged?

In another scene, he easily rolls over a gigantic slide tunnel in a children’s outdoor playground or amusement park when ambushed by gangs.

With a tigerish bound, Kim Hee Woo wheels and ducks the gangsters and with great ease, rolls over the end of the tunnel in an instant and is soon on his feet.

Some gangsters are swarming around Kim Hee Woo and he catches hold of a thug and slams him against the slide tunnel.

Kim Hee Woo looks cool in the action scenes even with his suit jacket flying open as he swings his hands at the gangsters. He is like swirling in a dance movement. He merrily smashes ruffians against tables and walls.

MARTIAL ARTS AND THE ARTS

In one scene flooded with tense excitement, Kim Hee Woo ferociously smashes a gangster’s head against a table in a gambling den and the poor victim collapses in a heap. One’s heart jumps into the throat. The dizzying spectacle matches the dizzy contrasting black and white zigzag lines of the flooring.

Kim Hee Woo rushes after a thug in another scene. His fingers lock like iron on the man’s neck. He strives to maintain his hold on the man’s head.

He slams the ruffian to the wall. Is he breaking laws by punching and slamming the thugs? The Prosecutor has gotten fiercer and stronger.

The struggle is fast and furious. He manages to kick the man aside. The other man is shocked by the full strength and ferocity of the prosecutor.

The next sequence shows Kim Hee Woo rolling over a BLUE pool table. A lone YELLOW pool ball lies in the background. Placed against the back wall is a RED swivel office chair. With a cat-like spring, he jumps, kicks murderously at his opponent, and rolls swiftly across the blue pool table.

The fight scene is artistically designed with the primary colours of the Colour Wheel – Red, Blue and Yellow.

The use of PRIMARY colours announces that it is a small fight; it is the prelude to a bigger fight in the future.

CINEMATOGRAPHY

The director brilliantly uses light and shadow to set the mood and bring on the chills. The lighting enhances the calm but determined expression of Kim Hee Woo, whose face is partly hidden in shadows. He is composed and unruffled. But, his eyes, which seem impassive, is bone-chilling. Is the scene a precursor of a fierce confrontation with some enemies?

Kim Hee Woo needs many things other than Physical Power: Money is Power. Knowledge is Power. An Army of Loyal and Talented Friends is Power. A Combination of Business, Professional, Political and Personal Connections is power.

He rationalises: ‘To protect everyone, I need to get stronger. I can only achieve justice when I have enough power.’

He meets Kim Hee Ah, the youngest but most favoured daughter of the CEO of Chungha conglomerate. They have similar names but both are from different backgrounds. In the manhwa, they meet as first-year undergraduates when Kim Hee Ah confronts an obnoxious suitor who wished to date her. Her rejection makes the thuggish Romeo’s blood boil. When Kim Hee Woo comes to her rescue, she is, to say the least, favourably impressed by his courage and intelligence. His fate is entwined with hers.

The wealthy young lady has no inkling that Kim Hee Woo has designs to latch onto her to get his hands on her inheritance. Chungha Motors. Chungha Electronics. Chungha Construction. Is the friendship simply a means to an end?

Kim Hee Woo’s meeting with Lee Min Soo played by Jung Sang Hoon, is unexpected. Lee Min Soo, an uncouth and unkempt genius who is easily bored, takes the trouble to track down the future prosecutor and introduce himself. Having blown his chances of completing various courses - Art, Medicine, Music and Law, the bored student agrees to return to law school only after the law professor told him about the talented Kim Hee Woo. Lee Min Soo, who likes challenges, is thrilled to befriend Kim Hee Woo after sizing him up. A burning question is, ‘Will they fight together to the bitter end to destroy the evil group?’

In one scene, Kim Hee Woo appears to be in a very animated discussion with the professor in the university auditorium. The  interaction seems hilarious. Lee Min Soo looks on with envy.

Lee Min Soo considers Kim Hee Woo, who is on par with him, to be a worthy opponent. What he doesn’t know is the Future Changer, who is able to draw upon his wealth of knowledge and rich experiences, has the competitive edge over him. The touchy-feely Lee Min Soo, who is captivated by the gifted student, has no qualms about hugging or embracing Kim Hee Woo. None would be surprised that Kim Hee Woo feels queasy about the other man’s queer BL gestures. Is this a case of unrequited Boy's Love?

The beautiful Kim Han Mi, the illegitimate daughter of Kim Seok Hoon, the Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecution Office is infatuated with the light of her life, Kim Hee Woo.

An unruly, defiant student and obnoxious cigarette-smoking bully, Kim Han Mi, played by Kim Jae Kyung, disgusts Kim Hee Woo at first glance. However, when he learns of her ties with Kim Seok Hoon, the Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecution Office, he mulls over a plan which is hatching in his mind. He offers to teach her Maths and mentors her in her studies so that she could enter the university.

With his wholehearted encouragement and unwavering support, she becomes a reporter and proves to be of great advantage to him. Kim Han Mi understands she cannot be more than a friend; they are just hing dai zi mui (brother-sister).

Kim Hee Woo meets Kim Gyu Ri, played by Hong Bi Ra, when she faints in a thunderstorm. It is psychological as her parents had died in an accident in similar weather conditions. They become friends and she falls for him.

They share a similar background. In his previous life, Kim Hee Woo’s parents also died in an accident. They are both the top students in High School. They enter the same university to study law to become prosecutors. He is posted to Kim San and then, to the Seoul Central District Prosecution Office while she serves in the Western District Prosecution Office.

On a few occasions Kim Gyu Ri fails to attend classes at the university. It worries him that she might be forced to forsake her studies because of financial difficulties. He secretly helps her. Kim Hee Woo foresees that she would be useful to him when he confronts Jo Tae Sup in the future.

Kim Hee Woo recruits Park Sang Man, an Economics major played by Ji Chan, in his second year at the university. Accused of murder, Park Sang Man’s father’s absence brought difficulties to his family. Allowing Park Sang Man and his mother to stay in his property and employing the younger man as his assistant, Kim Hee Woo gains his gratitude, trust and loyalty. He has a soft spot for Park as he knows that the younger man would be of valuable assistance to him someday. True enough, Park Sang Man, with his great economic knowledge and hacking skills, is able to play a crucial role in Kim Hee Woo’s quest to punish the evil men who wield enormous power in the country.

One cannot speak of Kim Hee Woo without mentioning his mentor, the wise Woo Yong Soo (not in teaser). Without him, there would not be the triumphant Kim Hee Woo. The real estate tycoon, played by Lee Soon Jae, agreed to be the young man's mentor, but not before he tested him. The undergraduate's intelligence and ingenuity impress the veteran businessman. The older man points out the obsessed and determined look in Kim Hee Woo's eyes. He cautions the young man against greed and losing one's soul in the property business.

The relationship is a win-win situation. Woo Yong Soo shares business secrets with him and Kim Hee Woo also shares insider secrets that Jo Tae Sup and Park Dae Ho, the CEO of DHP Money are planning to take over his properties. He advises the magnate to sell off all his properties before any disaster happens.

Is Kim Hee Woo the man he appears to be? Find out in the upcoming Again My Life.
