Lee Joon Gi, who had received 269,329 votes for the Top 10 Most Popular Overseas Drama Stars in 2020 Weibo 5th TV Series Awards (China), is ranked the 7th Most Popular Overseas Drama Star in China. However, he gains a dominant position as the Third (3rd) Most Popular South Korean Drama Star in the awards. Other than the South Koreans, the awardees preceding him are Thais.

In the same TV Series Awards, Flower of Evil garnered 598,476 votes, and whilst being placed third in the Top 10 Most Popular Overseas Dramas, the trial-blazing Suspense-Melodrama masterpiece, is ranked the NUMBER ONE (1st) South Korean Drama. Interestingly, the first and second ranked overseas dramas, which are ‘Boy Love’ (BL) or LGBT dramas, are from Thailand. The BL genre features gay romances.

Love appears and his life is changed and lifted to a different level. The drama combines SUSPENSE (martial arts action / mystery / crime) with MELODRAMA (romance / tragedy). Generally, martial arts / action stars in movies and dramas look tough and stoic; they always never cry. But, in Flower of Evil, the chief character portrayed by Lee Joon Gi, the amazing ACTOR and MARTIAL ARTS / ACTION STAR, fights and cries. As Do Hyun Soo, Lee looks tough and soft at the same time. He looks like a PSYCHOPATH and yet he is so VULNERABLE - he cries like a BABY. Tough yet helpless. And, Cha Ji Won, his indulgent detective wife, played by Moon Chae Won, treats him like her child or baby.
What the scriptwriter and the director of Flower of Evil have orchestrated is a fresh story and a startlingly original plot. The drama puts a completely different perspective on the talents and the capabilities of the multi-talented actor, Lee Joon Gi. No other actor can be like Lee. Incomparable. One cannot imagine another great action star or actor playing the angsty Do Hyun Soo. Lee Joon Gi is in a league of his own.
