If anyone deserves the 2022 SBS Drama Daesang, it is Lee Joon Gi. His sterling performance in Again My Life, the high Nielsen drama ratings, the immense international popularity of the television series in various streaming platforms including VIU and HULU, the accolades and critical acclaim accorded to the show, the passionate support of his global fandom and so on are enough to prove his claims to the Daesang. Although the formidable actor did not get the Daesang for his powerhouse performance in Again My Life, he exhibited great style, class and humility in his attitude and demeanour in all segments of the awards show. He wowed everyone – his passionate fans, viewers and award winners alike with his impressive red carpet walk (with his special charm and fan service), his warm and friendly interaction with everyone and his classy acceptance speech for the Top Excellence Award for his Fantasy Miniseries, Again My Life. My, oh, my - was he charm personified! So eloquent too!
Lee Joon Gi carried himself with an air of self-assurance and self-confidence. Everyone could see that he was genuine and respectful, and exuded a positive aura. The actor really has a sense of humour. Those present would have raised their glasses (if there were any) in salute to his impressive acceptance speech. And what more, he looked so handsome, gorgeous and elegant with his long hair and in this uxedo at the
awards show.
 Fans can recall that Lee Joon
Gi had also been robbed of the Daesang in two SBS Drama Awards shows - in 2008
(Iljimae) and 2016 (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo).
In 2022, SBS had given Kim Nam Gil an unfair advantage and competitive edge by according his drama, Into The Darkness recognition despite the low ratings of the copycat television series. The award given to his drama was a flying start for Kim Nam Gil and Into The Darkness. Although the actor’s performance is not on par with that of Lee's, Kim Nam Gi and Into The Darkness were subsequently nominated for various awards. Finally, SBS gifted him the Daesang at the 2022 SBS Awards on 31 December 2022. What is the Daesang? Of course, the Grand Prize, the most prestigious award, but what? Why does Kim Nam Gil deserve the Daesang? What happened at the 2022 SBS Drama Awards is a travesty of
justice.
