THE AWARD WINNING OR EXPERIENCED

CAST

LEE JOON GI

(KIM HEE WOO)

AGING BACKWARDS

Lee Joon Gi, the global multihyphenate superstar with a string of international awards to his name is the leading actor playing Kim Hee Woo, a genius who is the top Korean prosecutor.

Kim Hee Woo is seen as the Tiger in Again My Life. The Tiger, known as The King of the Beasts in China, is a symbol of power. According to Chinese culture, the person born in the year of the tiger is considered to be courageous, focussed, strong-willed, competitive, confident, active, energetic, persistent, determined, charming and well-liked. Like the tiger, Kim Hee Woo is also very focussed, determined and geared towards winning. His persistent and determined nature strengthens his leadership qualities. Symbolising strength and courage, the tiger is able to exorcise evils. Kim would be snarling and growling at Korea’s public enemies including the most heinous one, Jo Tae Seop, who reeks not only of evil but also corruption.

The fact that the over 40-year-old Kim Hee Woo would regress to 18 years old is certainly interesting. Kim Hee Woo is blessed with a vast range of knowledge and broad experiences as he had lived before. He would be seen as a genius. Having knowledge of the future stamped into his memory, Kim Hee Woo would be able to rewrite history. A new future awaits him.

One cannot emphasise enough that Lee Joon Gi’s appearance as an eighteen-year-old student piques public curiosity. They would be elated to know that Lee Joon Gi does indeed look younger. Perhaps the following images would partly satisfy their curiosity.

Lee Joon Gi’s acting prowess commands attention globally. The temperature of his fame has risen every year of his life from the moment he catapulted into fame with The King and The Clown in 2005. The top money-grossing megastar will not allow us to forget the masterpieces and achievements that he has churned out. Performing is second nature to the actor with the magical smile. Naturally, the viewers’ expectations for the 2022 Again My Life have been raised.

In 2016, Lee, the leading actor of SBS' Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Korea’s Best Historical Drama of All Time, made a splash in the global news. As Wang So / Emperor Gwangjong, the barbaric yet vulnerable Fourth Prince, played by Lee Joon Gi, mesmerised and captured the hearts of the global audience and Lee won many awards including The Best Actor 2016, an international award from KKTV Taiwan.

2.5 billion Chinese watched the drama, so did 73 % of the K-drama audience in Singapore-Malaysia. Having impressed viewers from all over the world, Lee rose in stature and fame. He was appointed Brand Ambassador for a mobile game based on the Goryeon Emperor Gwangjong.

In 2017, Lee made his Hollywood debut with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and it cemented his place as a global actor. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was the top grossing film of all time in the franchise. Despite his cameo role as the evil Commander Lee, Lee Joon Gi’s fans came out in full force to support him.

In the same year, he also won another international award, the Actor of The Year Award from Soompi for his sterling performance as a profiler in Criminal Minds (Korea).

In 2020, Lee Joon Gi portrayed a psychopathic metalcraft worker in yet another K-drama masterpiece, Flower of Evil, which is locally and globally acclaimed. Lee and Flower of Evil have been lauded by South Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, France, The Philippines, Indonesia, the USA, Turkey and other countries. One of the many important awards and accolades that Lee won was The Icon for Drama 2020 by Cultura, the Korean magazine for the Arts and Culture.

And, what is most revealing is Flower of Evil is being remade / adapted by ABS-CBN of the Philippines. Only the very best dramas or movies are remade or adapted.

KIM JI EUN

(KIM HEE AH)

Kim Ji Eun, the fastest rising female star, plays the leading female character, Kim Hee Ah, another genius. Recently, she garnered a lot of support and won two awards, including Best New Actress, for The VeilKim Hee Ah, who has tasted an immensely privileged life as the youngest daughter of a conglomerate or chaebol family, pursues the aloof and detached prosecutor. Everyone is excited at the prospect of Kim Hee Woo melting in the face of the beautiful, young but spoiled businesswoman who is fervent in her romantic pursuit. But, Kim Hee Woo is not easily distracted. They would draw apart but their lives would touch again like waves ebbing and flowing on a beach.

Lee Kyung-young, a multiple award-winning veteran actor, plays Jo Tae Seop, the main villain in Again My Life. The veteran actor needs no introduction as he has played various interesting roles in countless K-dramas including The Veil, Vincenzo, Graceful Friends, The World of The Married, Hyena and Vagabond and so on and so forth.

In the trailer, Jo Tae Seop, the high-profile politician, is berated by the furious public and is a victim of egging.

Han Ji Hyeon, The Angel of Death or The Grim Reaper, has bestowed on Kim Hee Woo another opportunity to punish Jo Tae Seop, Public Enemy Number 1, and other heinous scoundrels in Again My Life. Kim Hee Woo’s showdown with the villainous and wily Jo Tae Seop in Again My Life will be phenomenal. Global viewers are thrilled at the prospect of watching their clash.

The Angel of Death or The Grim Reaper had warned him, ‘You can’t catch the devil by being the lesser evil.’ Does it mean that it would not be The Clash between Good and Evil, nor The Clash between Evil and the Lesser Evil?

Due to the gravity of his evil crimes, Jo Tae Seop should be sentenced to death but would Kim Hee Woo be able to trap him?

The horrible question inevitably pops up in the mind: Would Kim Hee Woo turn out to be The Biggest Monster in Again My Life?

The director has also roped in Lee Soon Jae and Yoo Dong Geun, accomplished veteran stars who have won multiple Daesang awards.

Lee Soon Jae plays Woo Yong Su, a real estate expert who is one of Kim Hee Woo’s mentors.

Lee Soon Jae (87), who has collected at least 3 Daesangs and many Best Actor awards, including one from China, performed 33 times in the play, King Lear, from October to December 2021. He played the foolish and delusional king who descended into insanity due to the betrayal of his 2 older daughters. The veteran actor is the oldest actor to have played Lear, which is a great achievement. His presence in Again My Life have stirred considerable interest.

Yoo Dong Geun

Yoo Dong Geun, another respected veteran actor, has been awarded 5 Daesangs and also many Best Actor awards.

His role in Again My Life has not been announced but by the looks of the manga, it seems likely that he would be taking on the role of Jin Yong Hwang but we cannot be sure. Congressman Jin Yong Hwang, named The Time Bomb, is an honest, upright and incorruptible opposition lawmaker, who poses the greatest obstruction to Jo Tae Seop’s ambition. Later, he rises to challenge his rival for the country’s highest position.

Other award-winning or experienced actors have also joined the cast. Park Cheol-min and Kim Hee Jung will portray Kim Hee Woo’s father and mother respectively. Park Cheol-min, who has won several acting awards, plays Kim Chan Seong and Kim Hee Jung plays Mi-ok. In their previous life,  Kim Chan Seong and Mi-ok died of an accident caused by Jo Tae Seop’s eldest son but in their second life, they are saved by their own son.

Jung Sang-hoon, who has also won several awards, plays Lee Min-soo, the honest, upright but hot-headed prosecutor. He is Kim Hee Woo’s law school senior and good friend. The man, though a genius, is riddled with insecurities and would be easily swayed by Jo Tae Seop.

There are 3 geniuses in Again My Life: The pertinent question is: Is a genius born or bred? Which is more important: Nature or Nurture?

Lee Jae-woo plays Kang Min-seok, a lawyer at the KMS Law Firm. Kim Hee Woo takes a part-time job at the law firm to improve his financial status and hone his legal skills. He would later be aided by the lawyer in his fight against Jo Tae Seop.

The stellar cast also includes a bevy of strong, intelligent beauties. The parade of beauties is so heady that fans wonder about their effect on the audience. One thing is certain: they would gather like bees around the eligible best prosecutor, Kim Hee Woo, in Again My Life.

Together with Kim Hee Ah, Kim Jae Kyung (Kim Han Mi) and Hong Bi Ra (Kim Gyu Ri) portray the beautiful Golden Girls, The Kim Girls and will delight the audience with their performance. Will there be CAT fights since it is the Year of the Tiger?

Working as a prosecutor in the Seoul Western District Prosecution Service, Kim Gyu Ri is romantically interested in Kim Hee Woo from the very start. They are from the same batch of prosecutors.

Kim Han Mi, the daughter of Kim Seok Hoon, the chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s office, is born out of wedlock. Her father, a fiercely ambitious man, fears that his extra-marital affair would inflict reputational damage on him, so he insists that his illegitimate daughter stay below the radar.

Another beauty, Cha Joo Young plays the fantasy figure, the strong, courageous and emotionally intelligent Han Ji Hyeon, The Angel of Death or The Grim Reaper who gives Kim Hee Woo another shot at life. She is also Jo Tae Seop’s assistant.

Luckily, all the girls will be Kim Hee Woo’s allies.

Kim Do-Kyung will play Moon Sung-hwan, an app developer, another ally of Kim Hee Woo. He will also work with Lee Min Soo, played by Jung Sang-hoon.

The 16-episode legal-action-fantasy SBS drama will premiere in the first half of 2022. The drama is produced by Samhwa Networks and Cross Pictures.
