The Chinese Perspective on Flower of Evil

THE

CHINESE

PERSPECTIVE

ON

FLOWER OF EVIL

Flower of Evil, an original and unique suspense-melodrama, has won a lot of international accolades and overwhelming love. Those connected with it deserve to be rewarded and showered with even more love. Many international drama critics / drama writers / drama organizations / broadcasting stations and video streaming providers  particularly from China, Turkey, France, Hong Kong, The Philippines, Indonesia and so forth and so on have declared that Lee Joon Gi is the 2020 Best Actor / Most Popular Actor, or / and, Flower of Evil is South Korea’s 2020 Best Drama. Though South Korean Drama Award Organizations have not really acknowledged the excellent television series nor appreciate the sterling performance of its leading actors, particularly Lee Joon Gi's tour de force performance, the fact that the Philippines is remaking Flower of Evil is indeed quite telling. But, what is most revealing is the collective Chinese views on Flower of Evil.

Fortunately, Cultura, the South Korean magazine for the arts and culture has declared that Lee Joon Gi is the 2020 ICON for DRAMA. Wouldn’t it be nice if they had also presented him with a trophy? It’s not too late. The presentation ceremony could be done at a private venue.

GLOBAL  ACCOLADES

The Chinese audience has also lauded the astounding television series as well as the performance of the cast, especially that of Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won.

The DOUBAN score for Flower of Evil is 9.2. Douban, a Chinese social networking service website, is seen as one of the most influential web 2.0 websites in China.

DOUBAN SCORE

Weibo China (2020 Weibo 5th TV Series Awards), one of China’s biggest social media platforms, had ranked Flower of Evil, the trial-blazing Suspense-Melodrama masterpiece as the NUMBER ONE (1st) South Korean Drama in 2020. The television series was ranked the third most popular foreign drama after two Thai ‘Boy Love’ (BL) or LGBT dramas.
