Shades of Blue Flower of Evil Poster

SHADES OF BLUE

FLOWER OF EVIL
POSTER

You would not be faulted for having fallen totally in love with the latest Flower of Evil poster at first sight. Had it not been morning when one saw the poster, one would have thought that one was asleep and had drifted into a wild romantic dream. One’s response to Kim Jaeeun’s poster is an absolute ‘Wow’. One could not expunge this beautiful poster from one’s memory even if one wanted to.

The poster speaks of Lee Joon Gi (Baek Hee Sung) and Moon Chae Won (Cha Ji Won) being locked in an intense unfaltering gaze that is filled with sensuous tension. The head-on confrontation is set in Baek’s metalcraft studio.

Shades of Blue. Different shades of moody blue colours flood the poster. Blue represents the cops, the law; Cha Ji Won is the law. The midnight marine or navy blue colour represents the criminal. The colours evoke a melancholic and dark mood.

Duty before Love. Being a dedicated member of the homicide detective force, Cha Ji Won has handcuffed her husband of 14 years for he is wanted on charges of some appalling crimes. Baek Hee Sung’s censorious gaze and Cha Ji Won’s condemnatory look are clearly evident of a passionate love gone wrong. The Baeks are eyeballing each other. His look is an intimidating rebuke because she doesn’t trust or believe in him anymore. Perhaps, it is her lack of emotion that has sparked his ire. Her unconditional love and gentle warmth seem have evaporated all in an instant. After all, they had been married for 14 years.

Baek’s horrifying past that besieged and besmirched him set her on edge. Suddenly, there is a horrible rush of fear and grief when she realises that he is a complete stranger and danger in her life. She couldn’t believe that she had trusted him all these years. Handcuffing him is a mental and physical dressing down and tongue-lashing that she is giving him for having lied to her for 14 years.

But, if she had really intended to handcuff him, she would have ensured that his two hands were handcuffed together behind his back. She has, instead, handcuffed his left hand to her right hand, leaving his right hand free. It signifies that the Baeks are bound together for life. ‘Handcuffed Together for Life’.

Baek Hee Sung and Cha Ji Won still look so in love with each other. Hee Sung’s eyes hold a certain softness. Ji Won’s feelings for her husband have neither diminished nor ‘gone with the wind’. They loved each other for more than 14 years and it is difficult for them to let go. One is convinced that she will not abandon him. Whatever he has done, isn’t it possible for her to forgive him and start life anew? Probably, they can find a way for him to redeem himself.

The Baeks look so lovely and romantic together. Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won’s chemistry is explosive.
