It seems that the ever-diligent and passionate Lee Joon Gi is set to dominate the Japanese TV screen in 2018. The Japanese Home Drama Channel has launched a special programme to celebrate Lee Joon Gi’s exceptional achievements.
Lee Joon Gi is well-loved by the Hallyu world, particularly the East Asians. One would still remember the tremendous reception of Lee's projects, including his fan meets, by China, Japan, Taiwan and elsewhere in 2016 and 2017. The 2.5 billion Chinese views of his 2016 Goryeo drama, Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart Ryeo, together with the astonishing number of Asian cinema goers, for his North American movie, Resident Evil: The Last Chapter are an accurate barometer of his incredible popularity in the East. The fact that Taiwan presented him with the ‘Actor of The Year’ award for his 2016 drama, Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart Ryeo is another clear indication of his superstar status. These have been a major boost to his visibility and popularity and the extraordinarily talented South Korean superstar actor and entertainer has since gained a cult following.

OKINAWA
As part of the programme, Lee Joon Gi recently promoted his heart-warming Okinawa project, ‘JG Island’ on the channel. The South Korean superstar has been very busy since the 2017 broadcast of his serious crime thriller, Criminal Minds Korea. In late 2017, Lee not only filmed for the Japanese TV programme but also shot for the two issues of The Star photobook in Okinawa. There was, however, a dramatic change in the tone of his work in Okinawa; nothing warms up the heart like Lee Joon Gi’s smiles, laughter and his very effusive presence.
   
Lee’s ‘JG Island’ project was a sort
of chirpy working-holiday for him. ‘JG Island’ documents Lee Joon Gi’s recent scuba diving and
parasailing activities in Okinawa. Viewers
have been given an idea of the goodies that would be offered: an exclusive look
into the breathtaking scenery, the spilling of Lee’s secrets and the showcase
of his unique qualities and hilarious antics.
Other than
‘JG Island’, the Japan Home Drama Channel has also scheduled the airing of
several of his popular Korean dramas and his 2016 Japan fan meets,
including his ‘Splendor Family Day 2016’.
