Fans are delighted with the news of Lee Joon Gi’s upcoming comedy-mystery-action television series, tentatively entitled, Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency. It is rumoured that Lee had gone to a tanning studio in Seoul, presumably to have his skin tanned so that he would have a sun-kissed look for his new role as King Hyejong, the demented Gyeongbokgung bloodhound. All sorts of news that have been swirling around in the industry make it difficult for one to shift the truth from the rumours. Everyone has gone spinning new stories or guesses about his upcoming role in the television series. The name of King
Hyejong, the royal Joseon Sherlock Holmes, does not appear in
the prestigious list of Joseon kings. He is probably a much-feared, eloquent and
powerful but demented, tyrannical king - a mad genius. One’s guess is that his existence has
been ERASED from all Joseon records and the list we see today is a sanitised royal
list. There might have been a Joseon conspiracy, an Erasure Edict, to depose of Hyejong and scrub the phantom king clean from history. King Hyejong could also be a fictional character.
Fans are waiting impatiently for Lee Joon Gi and the production team’s important decisions. |
