LEE JOON GI
THE SUPER ACTOR
AND
HIS SUPER DRAMA
From the second you lay eyes on Lee Joon Gi in the super drama Criminal Minds Korea, you know that you’re looking not just at an amazing and unique Asian actor but also an amazing Asian drama. The world-famous Lee Joon Gi has been perfectly cast as Kim Hyun Joon, The Korean Super Sleuth and Super Action Hero in the supposed remake. It is probably a huge challenge to the South Koreans to do a
remake of the original, a hallowed turf. But, they have three trump cards.
The first is Kim Hyun Joon, a unique character who is played by Lee Joon Gi. Lee is no stranger to action dramas or movies; he’s done them since his debut. Consider Lee Joon Gi in those cautionary tales; he is perfect for the role of the NCI law enforcement agent to drive home the message about crime and punishment. Lee is a dominating and memorable presence and
influence in the drama. He is the spark who brings the profiler and the drama to life. In fact, Lee is the chief magical ingredient in those tales.
Another one is South Korean's fresh take on the anthology of Criminal Minds stories. The Americans lay claim to 12 seasons - it’s difficult to compete. However, what the South Koreans have are intelligence, creativity, imagination, passion and diligence. They have doctored some of the original stories and, wow, their 20-episode drama is almost unrecognizable. Their collection of stories is a heady mix of brilliantly tweaked, transformed or new criminal stories which are culturally different. The innovative approach, in essence, makes the drama more than a remake. As it turns out, the stories are amazing and highly unforgettable.
Third. The rest of the cast comprises other wonderful actors who include the veteran actor, Son Hyun Joo; Moon Chae Won and Yoo Sun. Lee Su Bin is quite a promising young actress. Go Yoon is also a likeable actor. Surprisingly, many young and older actors, who play the unsubs or perpetrators with very interesting backstories, perform admirably.
KIM HYUN JOON
A UNIQUE CHARACTER
THE SUPER SLEUTH
&
SUPER ACTION HERO
Kim Hyun Joon, the chief character, is the most visible and tangible difference between the original Criminal
Minds and the Korean version.
From the start when it was announced that the chief character,
Kim Hyun Joon would have no equivalent in the original Criminal Minds and
would be played by Lee Joon Gi, people who have a vested interest in the
drama knew straight away that Criminal Minds Korea would be vastly different.
Lee Joon Gi is an intensely physical actor. He is the Perfect
Profiler: The Super-Sleuth and The Super Action Hero. Kim Hyun Joon is unique
because his resume is astonishing: EOD (bomb expert), SPECIAL FORCES, SWAT
and POLICE (Homicide Detective). And spread throughout the drama, there are remainders or vestiges of all his skills and experiences.
He had also graduated at the top of the Profiling class in the
Police Academy and was co-opted into the NCI (National Criminal
Investigation) as a Profiler.

KIM HYUN JOON
THE SUPER-SLEUTH
In Criminal Minds Korea, Kim Hyun Joon is the super-sleuth who analyses criminal cases with the rest of the team. But, the part where Lee Joon Gi puts his stamp on is his slew of interrogation scenes - he ignites the screen as the skilful interrogator. No one can deny that Kim Hyun Joon has been brilliant in handling the different types of perpetrators in the various interrogation cases, adapting his methods accordingly to deal with different kinds of wierd suspects.
Kim Hyun Joon is unforgettable; he is savvy and oozes with charm and charisma as he navigates through the perilious paths of interrogation. He battles with mostly wackos and sickos and brings the interrogations to life with his intelligence and wit.
