Can you think of any Asian
actor who has won himself an enormous degree of respect with everybody – the
critics, the media, the global audience, grabbed a wealth of attention for
his perfomance in a series of compelling works and also drives his female
admirers into screaming paroxysms of delight? Lee Joon Gi is lauded as the finest
actor of his generation, and the top and most popular television actor in South
Korea. An icon for TV who is also a heartthrob. He has his global fans to prove it. Lee’s superb performance in his
recent masterpiece, TVN and Disney’s The Sword of Aramun, is convincing proof
that Lee Joon Gi is at the top of his profession and he deserves The Global Daesang. The sterling actor, whose
awesome performance has overshadowed the performances of many actors,
particularly young actors whom critics can pigeon-hole as actors starring only in
filmsy dramas which depict lovey-dovey romances, fllthy-rich scions of
chaebol families, brutal revenge, sex and infidelity or the like. You don’t
need rocket science to predict the drama ratings for such fare which pander to
the tastes of the audiences who love such genres. But,
it is tragic that some pillars of the showbusinesss industry and some gullible viewers
equate high drama ratings to the quality of the drama production. In the gloom
and doom of awards shows, you wonder about the manipulation and the
conspiracies in South Korean showbusiness.
In South Korea, award shows
are thorny. Actors who not deserve the Daesang or the Best Actor awards are liberally
given such awards based on the drama ratings. It is regrettable that Lee Joon
Gi’s sterling work in many television series, particularly The Sword of Aramun,
has been unfairly overlooked when awards time roll around. In some poignant parts of the
television series, The Sword of Aramun, Lee Joon Gi, in his dual-role as the twins, Inaishingi and Saya, proves to
be affecting and vulnerable, and in others, heroic, intense, humorous and even Machiavellian
that it is impossible not to love him. There are some pivotal scenes that
required him to achieve a primal state of being – to turn into an animal and a beast.
And he is spectacular in those scenes!
The masterpiece, The Sword of Aramun, is a genuinely unmissable treat. Lee's commanding presence has captured the imagination of the international audiences. It is impossible to tear yourself from the screen especially in the action and the dramatic scenes. Lee’s action scenes and dual-role emotional acting performance are nothing short of superb. How not to love an actor who is required to play a pair of twins who are polar opposites and is also able to convey such a wide range of emotions so powerfully in a television series? Lee Joon Gi and The Sword of Aramun are the best in television. https://www.instagram.com/jg_k_drama/reel/Cyv7DzFpRLS/?hl=en
The results speak for themselves. Lee Joon Gi’s performance has received the usual raves; Lee is on the receiving end of much critical praise and accolades. He has captured the imagination of admirers and fans in ways which other actors seem unable to inspire. The sterling actor and heartthrob seems to have a magnetic effect on women. There are many sites which are tributes to the multihyphenate. Many fans regularly send him gifts and supportive messages. They are a great source of encouragement to him and his television series.

Lee Joon Gi deserves the Global
Daesang. As depicted in a most illuminating and humurous video clip of a
Japanese fan, Lee Joon Gi is the obvious choice of global fans. When it comes
to picking the actor to receive The Global Daesang, Lee Joon Gi’s name should
be the one to be picked. He is The Perfect Choice. And to reiterate, The Sword of Aramun is the best television series.
