Lee Joon Gi Teams Up With Top Talents For The Flower of Evil

LEE JOON GI

TEAMS UP WITH

TOP TALENTS

FOR

THE FLOWER OF EVIL

The announcement that the script reading for the South Korean drama, The Flower of Evil, would be scheduled for 21 February fuelled expectations that there would be more news about the drama but it seemed to be all false hope. The drama has been veiled in mystery ever since. The much-celebrated actor Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won, a formidable actress, have been confirmed as the leading actors in the psychological thriller. Fans learnt that the renowned director, Kim Cheol Gyu, has been roped in to direct the drama which is written by Yoo Jung Hee. The news has sent a thrill of anticipation among Lee Joon Gi’s fans who are wildly excited at the prospect of the awesome actor working with such a talented team for his new drama.

Lee seemed to have retreated from the screen since the final broadcast of his legal-action thriller, Lawless Lawyer, on 1 July 2018. His spectacular performance as Bong Sang Pil, a reckless and unconventional lawyer, in the drama won him accolades from the mass media and the global internet communities. It led to him clinching the international award, Starhub’s Best Male Asian Star Award in December 2018. In 2017, the handsome Lee Joon Gi and the beautiful Moon Chae Won, who are from the same acting agency, acted opposite each other in the procedural action drama, Criminal Minds, so, The Flower of Evil will be an interesting reunion for them.

Kim Cheol Gyu

Director Kim Cheol Gyu has distinguished himself in helming many memorable dramas. He won widespread praise for his most outstanding work, Mother (2018). Mother was nominated for the Best Series Award in the 1st Cannes International Series Festival (France) in 2018. It won the Best Mini Series Award in the 13th Seoul International Drama Awards. Kim Cheol Gyu was also nominated as the Best Director for Mother at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Yoo Jung Hee, who is reputed to be a talented writer, has several dramas to her credit, including, Naked Fireman (2017), Avici (2015) and Bride in Sneakers (2014). It was reported that Lee Joon Gi was enamoured of her script as soon as he read it. When Lee disclosed that he had fallen in love with the drama’s evil character, Baek Hee Sung, it must have given his fans the shivers.

They have reason to believe that Lee, the best chameleon actor in South Korea, will be unrecognizable as Baek Hee Sung, a psychopath. Lee Joon Gi will certainly terrorise the audience in his portrayal of a demented criminal. Moon Chae Won will play his wife, Cha Ji Won, a homicide and violent crimes detective. There was no romance for them in their previous drama but their romance in The Flower of Evil is expected to be furnace red hot this time round. The duo will play a congenial husband-wife pair until the evil in Baek refuses be contained. They will end up as each other’s deadly foe on the opposite sides of the law.

It is speculated that The Flower of Evil would be full of mystery, suspense and intrigue. When the secrets of the evil character, Baek Hee Sung, surface, they will surely shatter the lovey-dovey dreams of Lee Joon Gi’s fans. But, Baek would most likely be an unforgettable character – one that the audience would not only love and hate but will also care about the most. The TVN drama, which is the most highly anticipated drama of 2020, is scheduled to air on Wednesdays and Thursdays in June.

Everyone is praying hard for the health and safety of the cast and the production crew of The Flower of Evil and also, for the coronavirus to vanish as quickly and suddenly as it arrived.
