The year 2016 would be remembered for Lee Joon Gi’s

popular South Korean Historical Fiction Drama, Moon Lovers - Scarlet Heart
Ryeo in a hurry because of its far-reaching and dramatic effects on the
female audience. It has left a startling and indelible mark on the female psyche. There is no question that Lee Joon Gi has the amazing acting talents and the gorgeous looks that fascinate many females. As the
scrumptious, sexy and charismatic Fourth Prince or Prince Wang So in Moon
Lovers, Lee has melted many hearts, seduced and hypnotised the ladies in Asia,

were fever-pitch hysteria-inducing concerts; his dancing, singing and
humorous antics on stage had the rapturous approval of his fans. There was no
twinge of embarrassment when the ladies, smitten by Lee's good looks and charm,

Although Lee Joon Gi has only a cameo role as Commander Lee in the
North American movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, he has promoted the
movie in his own unique way. Fans know him as Commander Lee, not by any other
name. The Japan premier for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter on 13.12.2016
was successful and the opening of the final installment of Resident Evil in
Japan on 23 December 2016, can be described as very successful as Japan has
always been supportive of the franchise.
The soaring career and surging global popularity of the South
Korean superstar, Lee Joon Gi, has impressesd everyone. One shouldn’t imagine
that Milla Jovovich and her RE producer husband, Paul Anderson are any
different. Rest assured that Lee has
made a powerful impression on them. Lee’s amazing martial arts prowess,

always come up to me and say, ‘Oh, you’re so good in these action movies, and
you do your own stunts. It’s so amazing.’ And so, I always kind of thought, ‘Oh
ya, I’m kind of cool.’
But then, I met Joon Gi (embarrassed laugh) and I realised what

Joon Gi was amazing. Amazing. The
scenes between him and Milla are electrifying. You’ve seen that. The action
scene - the two of them fighting. It’s one of the the high points in the
movie.
And the great thing is, he’s a
very, very good actor and also, he’s such an accomplished martial artist.
 
To see them do these fight
scenes where he’s stopping his foot like right in front of Milla’s face, over
and over again. There’re not many actors I’d trust to do that.

me watching Joon Gi preparing and doing these fight sequences because he really
has so much control.
 
He’s such an incredible martial
artist and he does everything himself!
For me, I’ve always kind of said,
‘You know, I can do this, I’m good at action, but watching Joon Gi work - I was
like, ‘I’ve got to go back to class!’
 
I use wires to do like jumping,
spinning kicks. He does it without anything! I mean, that’s how good he is.
  
And, really, I’ve so much trust
working with him. Obviously, we’d rehearse the fight sequences quite a lot.
But, at the same time, it’s very rare that I allow myself to do a fight
sequence with another actor. It is very dangerous. But with Joon Gi, I really
trusted him.
And we had such a good chemistry
and such a great rapport. It was unbelievable to watch him. I‘ve the honour
and privilege of working with him in that way.

We ended up being very good friends with him. As soon as we got
to Korea, he came to see us and he bought us dinner. It is actually wonderful

As a director of action movies, I’m always looking for the rarest
of things. And that’s someone who can play a convincing character, who’s a
very strong actor but also who can handle the action. And it is very hard to
find – and Milla embodies that - she’s amazing and does all her own stunts.
 
And when I met Joon Gi and I look at his work – I clearly found
somebody who’s a match for Milla. So, I was very, very excited about working
with him. And the way, we got him involved in the movie – I sent him a
personal letter, saying I’d be honoured to work with him, and Milla and I
were fans of his and we’d love for him to be involved in the movie. Honestly,
these two made my life easy because they do all their own stuff.
This is a promise – this will not be the last time I work with
these two actors because they’re so good together.
Resident Evil began as an independent movie. It was financed and
created outside of Hollywood. The first movie had a little South Korean
finance in it. It’s about time we paid back. (turns to Lee Joon Gi) ‘I’m glad
this time round you got to do it’.
 
Joon Gi really embraced the role. He gave it everything. And that's something, as a filmmaker, I totally appreciate, I totally respect. (turns to
Lee Joon Gi) And that’s why I would love to work with you again.
We actually asked Joon Gi to stay a little longer because I
hadn’t finished filming with him. He was supposed to come back home. And he
said, ‘No problem! I’ll stay as long as you want.’ You stayed and showed that
extra scene. That level of professionalism I totally appreciate. And these
are the kind of people that I want to work with. For me, film making is a big
family experience. I’m happy Joon Gi’s part of our family right now.

I’ve always been such a fan of martial arts. I love martial arts
films and of course, Taekwondo. It’s something that I love to watch. I like
to watch people like Joon Gi who are masters of what they do.

you feel better about travelling than to know that you have friends in the

Hollywood’s major film company, Universal
Studios was reported to have invested $10 million in Lee Joon Gi’s historical fiction drama, Moon
Lovers – Scarlet Heart Ryeo. The North American investment has turned out to be
a smart move as the drama has enjoyed spectacular international success in
Asia, North and South America and elsewhere.
However, many movie moguls in the west or east are still
unaware of the South Korean actor’s incredible and unique talents, and have
not tapped into them.
