ARTS AND ACTION
The legal thriller drama, Lawless Lawyer, is hard to surpass because of so many
awesome elements including the extraordinary cinematography, the
top-notch acting, the exciting, fast and furious pace of the storytelling and
so on.
But one very important element in the narrative is the amazing non-stop
action. By all accounts, the drama has been calibrated for maximum thrills
and excitement and the amazing Lee Joon Gi doles out spectacular action and
martial arts skills with surprising ease. One can imagine the great amount of
time Lee Joon Gi had spent to map out and plan his various martial arts and
action scenes with the action director and train for those scenes.
It is not a secret that Lee had trained in multiple types of
martial arts and athletic skills for Lawless Lawyer. Lee Joon Gi’s
versatility and physicality is a visual treat.
Some scenes call for challenging physical feats and driving skills, particularly in the
dramatic high-speed car chase and also a smash-up. The ladies swoon over Lee
Joon Gi but these tough and brash scenes also resonate with the male
audience.
Kim Jin Min, the director of Lawless Lawyer, has compared Lee
Joon Gi to Tom Cruise, saying, ‘He’s probably nothing short of Tom
Cruise.’* Lee Joon Gi, like the American actor, prides himself
on performing his own stunts without using a stunt double. Tom Cruise also has a
great reputation for his preparation, training, passion and drive to excel in
all his movies. He has the ability to immerse himself in whatever role
he plays. Some call him ‘A Living Legend’. An amazing actor. Those who know
Lee Joon Gi, including his staunch fans, would agree with Director Kim Jin
Min. But, perhaps, Lee Joon Gi is also like Leo DiCaprio.
Lee Joon Gi’s roster of remarkable feats in Lawless Lawyer
surpasses those of other action stars. He is superior to many action stars
and he has proved to be perfectly cast for the role of Bong Sang Pil. Lee
certainly rules the hearts of the audience with his plethora of skills, not
only acting skills but also action and martial arts skills.

THE PRELUDE
THE POLICE MOTORCYCLE-SUPERCAR CHASE
This is one of the
most exciting scenes in Lawless Lawyer. It is not the chase but Bong Sang
Pil’s demeanour and his interaction with the traffic policeman.
Bong Sang Pil was
driving the latest, very expensive supercar, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in a
dark tunnel. The 2018 Chevrolet is not to be sneezed at; its legendary
performance is well-known.
Imagine, the devilishly attractive Bong was driving at high speed in the tunnel. The upbeat music seemed to encourage his reckless behaviour. The speedometer showed that he was pushing past 150 mph. He was tapping his tattooed fingers on the wheel in tune with the fast music. The car looked fierce and aggressive in the dark.
When Bong Sang Pil
emerged from the darkness in his gorgeous grey metallic Chevrolet Camaro ZL1,
a symbol of success, he was set on catching a certain corrupt traffic
officer.
Intelligent: Set A
Thief To Catch A Thief. Bong Sang Pil had set himself as a ‘thief’ – a
reckless driver. He wanted to catch the real thief – the corrupt traffic
officer who had been frequently taking bribes from motorists, some of whom
were his clients.
Determined. Upon
spotting the officer, Bong Sang Pil revved up his car. He had exceeded the speed limit. Breaking traffic
rules. It was clear that he was being provocative. He was determined to catch
the corrupt cop. He revelled in goading the lawman with his poor traffic
etiquette. The ruse worked. The officer swallowed the bait; he gave chase on
his motorcycle.
When the officer
waved for him to pull over, Bong Sang Pil refused. Bong knew that he had committed a
traffic offence but the devil in him was determined to toy with the officer.
He seemed to be prejudiced against the law officer. As a challenge to the
officer, Bong sped up and recklessly weaved in and out of the traffic. The
police motorcycle swerved behind him.
Bong cranked his
steering wheel to the left and shot to another lane. Like Bong Sang Pil, the
supercar was a force to be reckoned with.
The cocky lawyer was
smirking. Through his side mirror, he could observe the determined traffic
officer tailing behind him. He was smug in the knowledge that his Chevrolet
Camaro, a supercar made for performance, could out accelerate any vehicle.
The police motorcycle was pretty pale by comparison.
But then, enough was enough. He had his fun. He eased his car to allow the officer to catch up with him. The officer ground to a halt right in front of his car and Bong Sang Pil hit the brakes and brought the powerful car to a sudden stop.
Suave. The car window
rolled down and the officer met the smiling face of Bong Sang Pil. Confident
and relaxed, he placed his left hand on the roof of his car, and with his
right hand, he playfully saluted the officer. He was polite yet a smug smile
played at the corners of his lips. He teasingly lowered his sunglasses a
little.
The traffic officer sized Bong up and requested for his licence. |

PRELUDE
THE
MARTIAL ARTS
TRAINING
CENTRE
THE BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
EXPONENT
THE FLYING TRIANGLE CHOKE
Bong Sang Pil was practising and honing his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
fighting techniques with his two practice partners.
Flexibility, power, speed and strength were important elements in martial arts. It was important for Bong to be in peak physical condition to fight the forces of evil, including gangsters. The martial arts expert was trying to perfect his takedowns, particularly the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Flying Triangle Choke.
With two hands, Bong Sang Pil grappled with his first
partner. He successfully took control and locked the left arm of the man in a
white shirt.
Then, Bong leapt up, and kicked him.
When, Bong landed, he turned to the other partner who was hitting
out at him.
Catching hold of the man with both hands, his right hand firmly clasping his opponent’s right shoulder, and his left hand on the other man’s wrist, Bong twisted the man around but the man somersaulted away.
Turning around to face the first man who was about to attack him,
Bong deftly grabbed his hand, simultaneously kicking him.
The Takedown. Bong Sang Pil suddenly attacked by leaping swiftly
and powerfully into the air, mounted high above the head of his bigger
opponent and turned smoothly around to apply the choke. He had landed an
amazing flying triangle choke!
They crashed to the floor but Bong prevented any grappling by
swiftly lying across his opponent with weight applied to the opponent's
chest.
Bong planted one of his legs across his opponent’s neck and one across his body. He rolled over, sweeping two legs together over his opponent’s body to finish him off.
When it was over, he rolled away.

EPISODE 2
BONG SANG PIL
AND
THE GANGSTERS
THE HAPKIDO EXPONENT
LOW SPINNING HEEL KICK
Meanwhile, Tae Kwang Soo and Geum Gang were at the rooftop of a commercial building. Tae
was showing his teammate a drone for filming in the air. The latter was
awed by the amazing aerial gadget.
Tae Kwang Soo weaved Geum Gang a very interesting tale. The
lawyer’s funny henchman was told by the second in command that
he had received a new lease of life on 13 May 2013 because of their
boss, Bong Sang Pil.
Flashback. Bong Sang Pil saved his life when
he was hounded by an army of gangsters. He has Bong Sang Pil’s watch to prove
it. Bong was impressive; he had blocked the blade
of a knife with his watch. He had kicked the bunch of gangsters to high
heaven.
Being swift, Bong had also blocked the fist of one of the thugs
and delivered a powerful punch to his opponent’s belly. The lawless lawyer had even jumped into the air and kicked
another ruffian. Then, another thug attacked him with a knife but he was not Bong's match as the latter gave him a powerful right hook. Grabbing hold of the person’s arm,
Bong repeatedly punched the poor fellow.
Turning around at one point, Bong had warned
Tae that if he ever saw him around after the fight, he would kill him.
Suddenly, the group of thugs were lined up in
an aggressive stance. Bong Sang Pil had taken off his watch and thrown it
away since it was a hindrance to the fight.
Tae had retrieved the watch and treated it as
gold. Because of the incident, Tae explained, he became part of Bong Sang
Pil's gang.
The most exciting part of the fight was when
Bong Sang Pil climbed up the roof of a car to fight the gangsters. The bad
guys did not know what they would be facing.
With one hand on the car, Bong Sang Pil lifted his legs up, struck out with his Hapkido low spinning heel kick to sweep the bad guys away.
It was there and then that Tae pledged his
loyalty to Bong Sang Pil who was lucky to have him as a disciple. Tae swore
allegiance to Bong Sang Pil and wherever Bong went, Tae Kwang
Soo vowed to follow. He was willing to follow him even to
hell!
Geum Gang was impressed. Having been
offered a fresh start in his life, he also vowed to give his
loyalty to the Boss and to Manager Tae. Even gangsters have a code of honour.
Bong Sang Pil seemed to be quite the natural
Alpha leader. He had rather speedily drawn a new pack of obedient followers
to his side.

BONG SANG PIL’S
GRAND ENTRANCE
IN
A
SPECTACULAR
NIGHTCLUB SHOW
Lee Joon Gi’s amazing performance in Lawless Lawyer has received
rave reviews from drama critics and lavish praise from local as well as
global viewers.
In Episode 2, Seok Gwan Dong reported to Ahn Oh Ju that Bong was on his way to
the nightclub. Ahn Oh Ju gave specific instructions to Seok Gwan Dong to give
Bong Sang Pil a choice: either death or surrender the Criminal Defense Lawyer
job.
But, Seok Gwan Dong did not want to give Bong a choice. The
gangster from Seoul and his henchmen were waiting for Bong’s arrival. The
stage was set.
The volume of the music was turned up when Bong Sang Pil arrived. The
spotlight was turned on the lawyer, the star of the show.
Bong made a grand entrance as he stylishly descended the huge
stairway which led to the spot-lit stage.
Seok Gwan Dong was like the Master of
Ceremonies holding on to the microphone as he announced the arrival of their
special guest, Bong Sang Pil. It was an appropriate prelude to a spectacular
nightclub performance.
Ha Jae Yi, who was tied to what some referred
to as the stripper's pole, was also in the spotlight.
The scene sizzled with excitement. Ha Jae Yi
seemed unfazed now that her knight in his fashionable suit had
appeared. Bong Sang Pil cheekily declared that Ha Jae Yi
was none the worse for wear and tear. She inquired if he had given up the trial. He
pronounced that everything was okay; Tae Kwang Soo, with his
army of ever-helpful crew, was holding the fort at the judicial court.
Visibility was low. The lights were blinding. Was the place
foggy? Gangsters were crawling all over the place. A place breathing of
corruption and injustice.
Bong Sang Pil took stock of the situation and stood in the
spotlight waiting for the right moment to strike. He did not underestimate his opponents but did his opponents,
particularly Seok Gwan Dong, underestimate him?
The atmosphere was intense. Bong realised that
it would not be easy to free Ha Jae YI as he knew the place was swarming with
hoodlums. He clenched his jaw but did his heart jackhammer?
No, Bong Sang Pil
was calm even though his Office Manager was tied up.
|
EPISODE 2
THE STARTLING TAEKKYEON SIDE KICK
The place was dark and built for dancing. The spotlight was on
him and Ha Jae Yi. Ha Jae Yi was tied to one of the vertical poles for
dancing. The thugs were ready for an entertaining show.
Seok Gwan Dong claimed that he wasn't prepared during their last encounter in Seoul but now he was ready.
Bong Sang Pil’s eyes took on a metallic gleam.
He held his fists up to indicate that he was ready to fight. He was like a
performer in a nightclub.
He quoted Mike Tyson. 'Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the
mouth.' What Bong meant was they should get ready for his punches and his kicks. Once
they tasted them, they would know what fear is - they would freeze and be
rooted to the spot!
The Disc Jockey was playing loud music for his live audience,
especially for Bong Sang Pil's benefit. It must have irritated the lawyer.
CAN-KICKING Attack. There was a awe-inspiring moment when Bong Sang Pil, kicked up a can right in the DJ's face with his powerful and stylish Taekkyeon Side Kick . The DJ was Bong Sang Pil's first conquest, an easy opponent to defeat. |
EPISODE 2
THE ATTACK
The handsome lawyer rushed across the room to the stage where Ha
Jae Yi was held captive. He leapt onto the stage and then jumped onto the floor and charged forward
again.
He swung his fist at one thug, delivered a blow to another and
then blocked an attack from the third one. With his right arm, he intercepted the blow of
another assailant. Seizing him by the arm, he pushed the thug away.
He simultaneously executed a kick at
another assailant.
Then, he bolted forward and knocked off some thugs
along the way.
Next, he ran from one pole to another, sweeping away everyone in
his path.
The pace was so fast and furious that it was almost impossible to follow Bong Sang Pil's attacks. When he took hold of the second vertical pole with one hand, he chopped another hoodlum with his free hand. |
EPISODE 2
THE TAEKWONDO SPINNING KICK
ACROBATIC MOVE. Finally, when he reached the last vertical pole,
he caught hold of it.
No one expected his next move - a jawdropping piece of action. Leveraging himself onto his side, he lifted his body off the ground and swung his legs swiftly in one amazing spinning acrobatic 360° move, sending a startled thug staggering to the floor.
One can appreciate the strength and artistry involved. It
seemed like a Taekwondo 360° Spinning Kick; with his hands gripping the
pole and his body spinning like a powerful weapon.
The fantastic martial arts move was sexy,
acrobatic, athletic and graceful.
|
EPISODE 2
THE SPECTACULAR
FLYING KNEE ATTACK
In a flash, to the complete surprise of everyone,
Bong Sang Pill made an impressive leap into the air.
His sudden powerful flying jump bore a striking resemblance to the Leap of the Puma. It must have shocked his audience who had not been prepared for such a Herculean leap. Awesome.
As suddenly as he had leapt, Bong Sang Pil swooped down 'Ong Bak'
style. He landed with bent knees on the shoulders of one of the thugs
who was trapped by the sudden attack.
The leap was so high and the Flying Knee Attack was so powerful
that when Bong Sang Pil landed, he not only drove the thug to the ground
but also landed heavily on top of him. The poor victim crumbled unconscious to
the floor.
It was such an amazing, sexy and explosive aerial takedown.
He seemed to have leapt, flown, glided in the air before finally crashing onto his opponent. The distance and accuracy of his precision leap was magnificent. With such strength and speed, Bong Sang Pil could be considered a super athlete.
All the thugs, with flailing arms, backed away and Bong leapt
swiftly to his feet.
The viewers are certainly blown away by the sudden high
adrenaline rush. A breathtaking and astonishing martial arts move!
|
EPISODE 2
THE BOXER
Someone tried to kick Bong Sang Pil. Bong could not resist punishing him. He executed a kick for kick and
the thug fell.
Bong Sang Pil leapt again, this time from the ground; he gave another man a powerful Taekwondo kick and rammed the fellow to the ground.
Bong jumped onto the stage again to free Ha Jae Yi. But, he was compelled to look over his shoulder. In one split second, Bong
had executed a Spinning Back Kick against the advancing thug.
Is that kick from Taekwondo, Karate, Kickboxing or Muay Thai?
Then, Bong executed a sudden Side Kick on
another attacker. Ha Jae Yi, although tied to the vertical pole, managed to sweep a
thug off with her Front Kick.
She screamed when a bald thug rushed up after Bong Sang Pil while
he was untying the ropes that bound her hands together. Bong managed to kick him away.
Two thugs crept up on either side but he also managed to whirl
around to punch and kick them away. Great kicks and efficient punches.
Not surprisingly, the sly Seok Gwan Dong charged at Bong Sang Pil
from behind. His vicious blow, when it came, did not miss its mark. A glass
bottle came crashing onto Bong’s head and shattering into pieces.
Bong Sang Pil was stunned momentarily; he tumbled back and nearly
lost his balance. But then, he quickly recovered and leapt back on his feet
to clobber Seok Gwan Dong before the thug could attack Ha Jae
Yi.
Then, Bong Sang Pil grabbed Seok Gwan Dong ferociously by the neck and gave him a powerful right hook. Impeccable moves.
When Bong Sang Pil figured that there were no more evil mobsters
to fight, he swiftly led Ha Jae Yi out of the carnage. Bodies lay
crumpled in the hazy darkness of the nightclub.
The fight was an upset that Seok Gwan Dong would never forget. Bong Sang Pil had executed so many awesome martial arts moves. Are they the moves from Mixed Martial Arts? |

EPISODE 3
THE PARKOUR LEAP
FROM
THE STAIRCASE
BANNISTER
The lawless lawyer team in the car had been
working hard to crack the murder case. Everyone had to play their part well.
The three strong fellows, Boss Bong Sang Pil, Tae Kwang Soo and Geum Gang, were going to do
some very physical or violent things so they left Ha Jae Yi to her own
devices in the car. She wanted to be part of the action but thought better of
it. She was to lie in wait to block the escape of suspicious characters.
The men climbed up the building to search for
the human smuggler. Bong’s two underlings were fully equipped with fighting
weapons, one steel rod or pipe each. Geum Gang wondered if their boss needed
a weapon too.
They arrived at the front door of the
criminal's apartment. It was the norm for Bong Sang Pil to be clothed in
stylish and expensive tailored suits that showed his toned physique to
perfection. He did not, as a general rule, want his splendid suits to be
ruined by either man or weapon. But, would the hunt for the criminal ruin his
handsome suit?
Bong was more worried about his suit than the violent animal behind the door. The two thugs were ready with their weapons.
The boss knocked on the door but there was no
response so he rang the doorbell. A face appeared. Before the smuggler could
slam shut the door, the lawless team were all inside.
Dragging the poor fellow to the roof of the
building, they dangled him over the wrought-iron railings that overlooked the
winding staircase. It was quite a precariously balancing act for the thugs.
The poor man’s life was hanging by the thread of his pants.
Despite persistent persuasion, the smuggler refused to talk. Exhausted, the thugs shrewdly complained that he was just too heavy and they couldn’t hold on any longer; they threatened to let go.
Finally, the criminal disclosed his
clandestine mission. Some people wanted him to smuggle a mysterious person
into China on that very day. He was in the dark about the person’s name but the man’s photograph had been
sent to his mobile phone. That particular man was supposed to meet him there.
On looking around, Tae Kwang Soo spotted a
suspicious person on the floor below. The suspicious character was casting
furtive glances left and right. Hey presto, they had found their prey!
In their haste to catch the murderer, they were distracted and had almost forgotten the smuggler who was trying to escape.
THE HOUND. Bong Sang Pil bent over the
railings to have a closer look at the person whom they assumed was the
murderer. Bong, the relentless hound, was just in time to see the vigilant
man trying to flee.
Never underestimate a lawyer. The lawless lawyer was nimble on his feet and bounded down some flights of stairs before he decided to do something risky.
THE LEAP FROM THE STAIRCASE BANNISTER TO THE
GROUND. Two floors above the ground floor, Bong Sang Pil sprang up the
bannister only to leap down to the ground floor to catch his quarry.
The other man reached out for some boxes which he threw in Bong’s direction. |
EPISODE 3
BRAZILIAN JJ / RUSSIAN SYSTEMA FOOT CHASE
PARKOUR LEAP
When they ran out, the escape route was
blocked by a rubbish disposal truck, so the killer ran to the other narrow
alley where Ha Jae Yi was waiting in the car. She flung open the door to trip
him.
On seeing her quick reaction, the mischievous
Bong Sang Pil, although hot on the heels of the criminal, was effusive in his
praise, ‘Nice job!’
As Bong chased the criminal, he noticed that
the alley had opened into a busier road.
Leap Inspired by Ballet. The traffic was
moving but the cars were crawling along. Bong Sang Pil leapt over a white
car. The athletic and supple lawyer resembled a ballerino performing the
splits in mid-air.
When his
feet touched the ground, he ran hurriedly through a dark, narrow alley. Ha Jae
Yi was following him closely in her big black car
When they emerged from the darkness, they,
man and machine, were on another road with a stream of heavy traffic. Cars
were lined up in a row. The criminal escaped by jumping onto the
bonnet of a car and then, onto the roof. From one car, he leapt to
another.
Parkour Leaps. Bong Sang Pil, the
athletic lawyer followed. He sprang up the bonnet of the first car at
the intersection and then, leapt up onto the roof. He found himself bounding
from one car to the other without stopping.
Free Running. Finally, when they landed, they
were running along a narrow stretch of road which was parallel to a wider
road which Ha Jae Yi was using. The hunted man, not only had a woman chasing
him in a car but also a man earnestly pursuing him on foot.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Russian Systema Running Skills. The
athletic and fighting-fit lawyer, like the cheetah, was running to catch his
prey. Both hunter and prey had been running for a long time. Bong’s years of
training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu / Russian Systema running were standing him in good stead.
Bong soon arrived in what seemed like a small-scale cottage industry area. The place seemed congested. Two workers were busy at work rolling up a length of cloth and they were oblivious of the fact that they were obstructing the narrow street.
Prevented from running past them, Bong Sang
Pil instinctively bounced up and sailed swiftly over the stretch of cloth
leaving the spectators stunned. When Bong emerged from the narrow street into
the main road, both man and machine met in an open road. Ha Jae Yi was driving
her car towards the criminal.
The fleeing criminal, who was clearly visible
in the open space, was an easy target. It would not be difficult for him to
be captured. Ha Jae Yi tried to block his escape path with her car.
Startled, the wily criminal rushed towards
the subway station.
Bong Sang Pil, sleek, lean and athletic like
the swift hound, was tenacious and stubborn in the pursuit of his prey.
It has to be emphasized that Bong’s training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and other martial arts had given him the edge as an athlete. Running exercises were an important component of his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training.
Bong caught up with the murderer as he was
about to pull open the subway station door.
The man hit him but Bong managed to duck. Grabbing hold of the man’s waist, Bong turned him around and slammed him against Ha Jae Yi’s car.
Without thinking, Ha Jae Yi pushed open the
car door and poor Bong was thrown off balance, slumping to the concrete floor
with the criminal landing heavily on top of him. Being in the advantageous
position, the criminal quickly recovered and scooted off as quickly as he
could.

EPISODE 3
SPECTACULAR ACTION
THE LEAP OF THE PUMA
AND
THE FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE
Bong almost lost sight of his prey in the
milling crowds. The subway station was thronged with swarms of people. He
rushed through the crowd and saw the man leaping down a flight of stairs.
The Leap Of The Puma. None was prepared for
Bong Sang Pil’s amazing Parkour Leap.
When Bong leapt after his prey, the legal
eagle soared into the air; his legs lifted up as he flew and his hands were
spread out like the wings of the eagle.
Puma and Eagle.
He seemed to have flown over the flight of stairs.
When Bong Sang Pil landed, he thought that he
had lost his prey. This time there were fewer people. He turned around and
managed to smell the man’s presence.

EPISODE 3
SUBWAY TUNNEL FIGHT
BOXING
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
REAR CHOKE
The criminal was grappling with one of the
maintenance workers who was locking up the door of a room which was out of
bounds to the public.
The criminal barged through the door and Bong
Sang Pil rushed in after him. But, the criminal had disappeared into the thin
air.
The Subway Tunnel. To the surprise of the
audience, Bong went through another door which opened into a dark, narrow
underground tunnel, the subway tunnel.
A creepy, eerie and forbidding place.
Tunnel Vision. Bong Sang Pil’s tunnel vision
had brought him to a situation which would turn out to be a blood-curdling
confrontation. Bong was unable or too stubborn to see the dangers that lurked
around him. Much of spine-chilling dangers had yet to dawn on the reckless
lawyer. The threat to his life and Ha Jae Yi’s had not occured to him.
But, would he have understood even if it was
spelled out for him? Bong Sang Pil only saw his immediate goal; he was
single-minded in his pursuit of the criminal who was the final piece of the
Mayor’s murder puzzle. Catching him was all that matters at that moment in
time.
The Hunter and The Prey. The criminal was
lurking in the shadows and was waiting to ambush Bong. The man lunged from
behind and both men tumbled onto the train tracks. Both leapt to their feet
and stood with their feet planted on the railway sleepers.
Bong Sang Pil squared his shoulders cockliy,
straightened his stylish and elegant suit jacket while the criminal studied
him in surprise.
The latter advanced aggressively to strike
him but Bong swiftly blocked the blow.
Bong gave him a right jab but the man managed
to avoid it.
Then, the criminal tried his luck another
time by grabbing Bong’s left hand. There was a tussle for control; Bong
managed to push him away. Bong was swift and gave him a right hook. The other
man was thrown off balance and backed away.
Bong was ready; he spread his legs in a
boxing stance with his fists close to his chest.
The man jumped to kick him but Bong just
managed to avoid the kick. The man attacked him aggressively with a left hook
but Bong expertly swayed out of the approaching punch. The man lost his
balance and fell to the ground.
Again, Bong Sang Pil had his fists ready but
he moved back when the man advanced towards him. The man tried to bash him
but Bong threw a counter-punch.
The criminal grabbed hold of his right arm
and kneed him in the stomach. He pushed Bong’s head and kneed him again. Bong
tore himself violently away but found himself thrown against the tunnel wall.
When the man lurched at him, Bong grappled
with him, grabbed his arms and smashed him with unthinking ferocity against
the wall.
By this time Ha Jae Yi had found them. She
was horrified to see them fighting on the railway tracks. The subway was a
deadly fighting arena, even for fights to death.
The man came back to punch Bong with his lead
hand, his right hand, but the lawyer turned away nimbly and let the punch
slip past. When another punch came his way, Bong bobbed and weaved to evade
it.
Charging at the man, Bong landed a right hook
to his jaw. It was a killer punch. The murderer teetered and was finally
knocked off his feet. The criminal was almost exhausted.
Bong Sang Pil was confident of his fighting
skills. He had a smug look on his face. But, there was no room for
complacency.
Then, much to the audience’s surprise, the
criminal whipped out his switchblade. It dawns on the audience that a hired
killer was not so easily defeated. If he couldn’t fight with his
fists, he would fight with blade weapons.
Could a switchblade unseat Bong Sang Pil’s
dominance in the fight? Bong let his gaze sweep over the criminal. The
criminal was in the dark about Bong Sang Pil’s fighting skills with weapons.
The lawyer had probably been playing with knives since the age of 10.
A feral gleam began to light up Bong Sang
Pil’s eyes. The murderer pointed and swiped the switchblade at Bong.
The lawyer swerved to avoid the slash of the
blade. He punched the knife-brandishing man. It was a powerful right hook. It
was quite a nasty bang on the head. The man nearly lost his balance and lost
his confidence; he finally looked scared.
On the man’s next attack, Bong, who had
already expected his move, grabbed the criminal’s knife-wielding hand in one
swift move. The sharp weapon fell among the gravel and stones.
The man tried to grab Bong’s wrist but Bong
grabbed him tightly by the neck. The vice-like choke nearly suffocated the
criminal. The man struggled for some time before he could escape.
The struggling and pushing was so forceful that
both landed on the ground, rolling on the railway tracks.
Bong was tougher and stronger; his spirit,
tireless. He quickly picked himself up. Then, he leapt up to give his enemy a
violent kick. The man fell almost inert to the ground.
Suddenly, the criminal pounced. But, Bong
quickly subdued the man by gripping him firmly by the throat. Turning him
around into a tight Brazilian Jiu Jitsu standing rear choke, Bong almost
stopped the criminal from breathing.
What happened next? The criminal had caught
hold of Ha Jae Yi. Watch the drama to see what happens at the end of the fight.
Parkour Leaps. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

EPISODE 4
THE DRAMATIC HIGH-SPEED CAR CHASE
Bong Sang Pil and Tae Kwang Soo were
discussing the dead hitman's mobile phone. Bong wanted to know whether the fixer or broker had put Ahn Oh Ju in touch
with the hitman.
Tae Kwang Soo had meticulously and
methodically gone through the call log and history of the hitman's mobile
phone. The fixer, the hitman and Ahn Oh Ju’s
secretary had been in frequent contact with each other leading up to the Mayor's murder but their communication suddenly went dead altogether after the hitman
died.
Bong realised that the fixer was not a human
smuggler after all and did not arrange to smuggle the hitman out. Someone
else did. Tae Kwang Soo believed the fixer was the one who introduced the hitman to Ahn
Oh Ju.
Meanwhile, Geum Gang had been tasked to tail
the fixer.
Ha Jae Yi had just arrived at the office. She
was curious about their plans for the day. Bong made it abundantly clear that she should stay at the office while the
big boys went out to play.
She smelt something interesting was going on. Intending to join them, she grabbed the car handle but Bong stopped her. He was worried about her personal safety. However, the look in her eyes and her strong will left no room for discussion. She wanted him to prove to her that he was right about Judge Cha Moon Sook. So, she would 'follow him wherever he went'. Her words sounded romantic.
But, how would Ha Jae Yi know that the
experience ahead of her would be unnerving and acutely distressing?
She suddenly asked where he got the hitman’s
phone. She seemed to have put two and two together. Bong Sang Pil should have known better. Evidence that was obtained illegally
could not be used in law courts.
Bong stonewalled and avoided answering her
question. But, he advised her to get accustomed to the
way they conducted their investigations. He instructed Tae Kwang Soo to step on the
accelerator. The car shot off and they were soon on the highway.
Arriving at the wharf, they saw Geum Gang.
The excited Sherlock Holmes boarded the car. They sensed that the fixer had let his guard down. Studying the fixer who was with an older
woman, they concluded that they were a mother-and-son pair.
Bong Sang Pil’s heart softened. He told his
team to wait a little until the fixer and the woman parted ways. Bong wanted to capture him when
he was out of his mother’s sight, probably to reduce her shame and
humiliation.
Meanwhile, Ahn Oh Ju was on his way to attend
the ceremony to unveil the statue of Judge Cha Byung Ho. All the VIPs who were invited by him had
consented to be present.
The gangster Chairman asked his secretary
whether he had unearthed further details about Bong Sang Pil. He stiffened when he was told that Bong’s
mother was a Human Rights lawyer and Choi Dae Woong was her brother. It was
reported in the newspapers that she had committed suicide in Ki Seong 18
years ago.
It didn’t take him long to join the dots. He
had ordered Wu Hyeong Man to kill and bury the lawyer and her son but Wu
Hyeong Man had betrayed his trust and hidden the truth from him for 18 long
years.
The boy, who was all grown up and had become a lawyer, had returned to Ki Seong and was conducting a personal vendetta against him.
The lawless group had, by now, blocked the
fixer’s grey car. Bong took over the wheel while Tae Kwang Soo and Geum Gang attacked the man’s
car. Tae Kwang Soo jumped onto the hood of the car
while Geum Gang used his heavy duty safety helmet to smash the window.
The latter opened the door and jumped in and struggled with the hit man. The former jumped away when the car lurched forward.
The fixer seemed reckless and aggressive; he
crashed his car into the lawless team's car and then, raced away. Bong
was shocked by the man’s death wish.
Bong Sang Pil was in top form; he was driving his car at breakneck speed. The exciting 'fast and furious' chase took Bong Sang Pil to a very congested place where bicycles obstinately mixed with cars.
He was determined to win this car battle. If
he caught the man, he would win the court case and bring the criminals to
justice.
The chase brought them to a colourful part of
the city. Red, green, blue and yellow.
The camera, giving an interesting two-point perspective
of the scene, panned to follow the black car as it relentlessly pursued the
grey car.
Without warning, the irresponsible fixer
drove against the traffic. The fixer was off his rockers. Shocked, Bong did not slam on the brakes but deftly swerved to the left lane,
and the two cars parted ways.
The car chase has the audience on the edge of
their seats. It is very thrilling to watch the two cars drawing level
and meeting at some point.
The foolhardy fixer cut recklessly into Bong's path and crashed his car into Bong’s car before he raced off. Bong Sang Pil, also a daredevil, was not going to lose the battle of the cars. He pressed on the accelerator to chase the other car.
Excitement mounted. When they arrived at what
appeared to be a small roundabout, both cars headed right. Bong retaliated. He was faster and turned his
vehicle swiftly around to crash headlong into the fixer’s car. The impulsive
and unexpected move must have been hair-raising; it must have chilled
Ha Jae Yi’s blood.
Geum Gang and the fixer had also received the fright of their lives. Stunned. It seemed that the front part of the grey car was badly wrecked. Bong’s black car was not any much better. The front part was badly dented. Other parts were wobbly and seemed to be threatening to detach themselves. Was Bong Sang Pil not fearful that his car might be on its last legs?
Since
the car had come almost to a standstill, Geum Gang took the opportunity to
thrash the helpless fixer. He ferociously cursed the fixer. ‘Die!’. The 'D' word must have brought the fixer back
to to life. Turning the wheel in reverse direction, the fixer was off on a
flying start again. But, the mulish Bong Sang Pil wouldn’t be shaken
off.
They raced crazily along a long narrow lane
in a beach area. When Bong Sang Pil accelerated; the car lurched violently and crashed into a
pile of boxes.
Some shocking obstruction lay ahead. An on-coming white
truck blocked their path. Bong Sang Pil’s dare-devilish guts took over.
The opportunity to hit the car again was too good to miss. Throwing caution
to the wind, he decided to scare the living daylights out of the
criminal.
His car hurtled towards the other car and
ploughed into it. It was a mind-blowing move. The fixer had not expected
Bong’s car to bear down on him.
What was entertaining was the terrible impact
had lifted the bonnet of Bong’s Sang Pil’s car. The front of the car was
seriously dented. And, the bumper and all had fallen apart. The crash had
left a huge yawning hole in the front of his car. Imagine his chagrin - the bulldozed car
wasn't that badly damaged!
But, Bong Sang Pil had the upper hand. The
other man's car was sandwiched between two cars. The lawyer was not going to allow the fixer to escape. His lips were pressed
together in grim determination.
Time was of the essence to him. He had plans for the fixer. They could not be late for their 'appointment'.
Unexpectedly, the raging mad fixer suddenly
swerved his car to the right, knocking off a fence. The cool and sophisticated lawyer raced after him. The fixer's luck had run out. Losing control of his car, he crashed into
a stationary car. The bonnet of his car crumpled upon collision. His journey
had come to a dramatic end.
Bong Sang Pil suddenly braked. He instinctively threw his right hand protectively across Ha Jae Yi’s chest to prevent her from crashing into the windscreen. A loving gesture. How romantic!
The car chase was 'A car chase to end all car
chases'. It was incredibly exciting and thrilling.
The cool and composed lawyer quickly alighted
from the car to apprehend the criminal.

BOXING
Some fighters make the mistake of slacking in their training.
Bong Sang Pil was not one of them. He was a regular at his Mix Martial Arts
training centre.
Bong Sang Pil and his sparring partner were not only honing
their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but also boxing skills. And speaking of which, they
were wearing thin, bright blue open-fingered MMA grappling gloves.
In their training session, they started with stand-up fighting
which then led to ground fighting.
After taking his upright boxing stance, Bong gave his partner a
left hook and then very quickly, landed a right punch on his opponent’s arm.
Anticipating that his partner would slug him, Bong blocked the
blow by covering up his face with his gloved hands.
When the man gave him a left hook, he swiftly bobbed to duck
the blow.
Then another punch came, he bobbed yet again.
Facing his opponent squarely again, he raised his left hand to
strike but his opponent stopped him.
When the other man struck at him with his right hand, Bong
grabbed his arm and wrist with both of his hands.
Engaged in the clinch, they were grappling roughly for a few
seconds.
Grabbing hold of the man’s right hand, Bong swiftly turned the
man 360° around to face him again. He was aiming for the takedown.
The man grappled to free himself. After successfully freeing
his left arm, he tried to throw a jab at Bong but the latter was able to fend
off the blow. Their clinch fighting became fast and furious.

BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
TRIANGLE LEG CHOKE
Having grabbed both arms of the man, the athletic and
well-conditioned Bong rotated his body bringing the man with
him. As they grappled, his opponent seemed to be trying desperately to free
himself. Bong was turning his hands around to get a better grip of the man.
With his iron grip on his opponent’s left arm, Bong tried
to throw the man to the floor.
Bong Sang Pil had waged his boxing war from the standing position but the fight had turned into the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ground battle.
Soon both fighters were flung to the floor, with their bodies
facing away from each other.
Bong was still gripping onto his opponent’s hands. Their ground grappling had begun.
With lightning speed, Bong rolled over his body to his right
and raised himself up from the floor into an almost sitting position.
Moving to his right again, he had swiftly mounted and settled
himself over the man’s torso, after cleverly lifting his left leg and
positioning his back against the man’s head, thus, immobilizing him.
Swiftly, Bong twisted to the floor, holding the man’s hands in
an iron grip but with his right leg lying across the man’s chest.
Bong pulled both of his partner's hands backwards in an effort
to destabilise him.
Then, very quickly, he moved his left leg next to his right leg
which had been placed perpendicular to his opponent’s head and
chest.
When his opponent tried to roll away, Bong’s legs locked the
man’s neck in the leg choke position.
Freeing the man’s body from the choke for a second, Bong Sang
Pil, in a lightning move, suddenly wrapped his legs around his opponent’s
body.
There was more grappling on the floor and as it got more
animated, it seemed Bong was left in a vulnerable position.
Bong’s legs were still wrapped round the man’s waist.
To free himself, his opponent raised his right hand to pound
Bong. Bong’s face was puckered up but he used both hands to block the attacks,
as his opponent released a flurry of blows.
Bong Sang Pil was not going to be a punching bag and he was not going to allow him to land a K.O. He had grabbed the man’s hand in the struggle for dominance. Suddenly, Bong, with a powerful leg kick, had thrown the other man off. But, his grip on the man’s wrist had not slackened. In another sudden move, Bong had pulled the man back towards him again. Bong’s legs grabbed hold of the man’s head. As his opponent tried to move away, Bong was pulled upwards, with his legs still locked around the man’s body.
The other man tried punching him again. Wrestling for control
and dominance, Bong moved his hips to bring his sparring partner closer. He
then grabbed his opponent’s head in a hook and drew the man’s head closer
with his powerful and muscular legs.
Bong, with his enormously strong fighting spirit, would not let go even though his opponent tried to twist himself free. Bong Sang Pil's legs were locked into a very tight Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Triangle Leg Choke around the man’s neck. His right leg was perpendicular to the neck, the other was on top, with the toe cap of his shoe pointing up. Bong managed to subdue his opponent by effectively pinning him down. When Bong Sang Pil flexed his calves to increase the amount of pressure on the choke, his opponent had enough and tapped him repeatedly to signal his surrender. The fight was over.
Bong sat up on the floor for several seconds to catch his
breath before he lifted his defeated opponent up.
It was a good fight. Bong Sang Pil’s mouth lifted into a faint smile. |

THE FIGHT
IN
THE ABANDONED FACTORY |
EPISODE
7
THE TAEKWONDO KICK
The Ki Seong world belonged to the powerful
and corrupt who can exert their dominance over the little people like Wu
Hyeong Man. The helpless and hapless man was either the fall guy or a passive
pawn in Judge Cha’s and Ahn Oh Ju’s crimes. It was only with Bong Sang Pil’s
assistance that he was eventually vindicated.
However, Wu had vengeance on his mind; he
wanted to exact his full revenge on his enemies.
Vengeance appears, in most cases, to be premeditated. At least in Wu Hyeong Man’s case, it was simply that; it was not invoked. Two things reign supreme in his mind. First, retaliation to avenge the wrong done to him. Second, atonement for his sins.
Wu Hyeong Man, being foolhardy, fell right
into Ahn Oh Ju’s trap. The newly released prisoner was captured and held
in a warehouse where he was tortured. The cylindrical iron rod
was the gangsters’ weapon of choice for the torture.
Upon being alerted to the kidnap of Wu Hyeong Man by Ahn Oh Ju, Bong Sang Pil gunned the engine of his supercar and sped to the gangster's hideout.
On the way there, Bong Sang Pil’s mind rolled
back to the past. The earliest memory of his discussion on ethical principles
with his mother was about justice, being impartial and doing what was
right. He mulled over the conversation.
But, Bong had so far wanted to exact revenge on those who had murdered his mother. Bong still harboured a hazy, muddled idea about revenge and justice. He had probably equated revenge with justice. His form of justice was one-sided, emotional and motivated by self-interest. Justice was rational and impartial.
Wu Hyeong Man had used the trunk of a stolen
car as a hiding place for stolen documents that would incriminate Ahn Oh Ju,
Judge Cha and the other members of ‘The Seven’. It was a one-man war against
Ki Seong’s most powerful people.
There was no love lost between Wu Hyeong Man
and Ahn Oh Ju although Wu had been his lackey for the last 18 years. Ahn Oh
Ju demanded to know whether Wu had handed the incriminating Ki Seong Savings
Bank documents to Bong Sang Pil. Ahn got his answer.
Wu Hyeong Man had blown the lid off their corruption. The slimy gangster head ordered his betrayer, Wu Hyeong Man, to be killed and be consigned to history.
Wu Hyeong Man must be quite brainless to have
thought that he could fight the gangster boss alone. He was puny compared to
the evil forces who were behind Ahn. He shouldn’t have taken on people with
the likes of them.
But, what was most unfortunate was he had brought more sorrow to those who were on his side.
When Bong Sang Pil and Tae Kwang Soo
approached the warehouse, a good number of aggressive gangsters were on
guard. They were enough reason to warrant a display of toughness by the two
men.
The Martial Arts expert, Bong Sang Pil, was
ready to deliver a combination of Taekwondo kicks, Muay Thai Flying
Knee, straight knee kicks, jabs and punches.
A distance away from the warehouse, a goon blocked their way. Bong, leaping up with hands spread out like the wings of an eagle, delivered an impressive Muay Thai Flying Knee.
When he landed, he also delivered lightning-fast
punches which were too quick for Ahn Oh Ju’s minions to block and too
fast for their eyes to follow.
Manager Tae had also jumped into the fray.
Bong's unstoppable Taekwondo kicks sent a few gangsters
into oblivion. In a matter of minutes, the gangsters had crumbled
and were soon crawling all over the ground.
Bong Sang Pil and Tae Kwang Soo had certainly made short work of them.
Meanwhile, Ahn Oh Ju and Seok Gwang Dong had
discovered Wu Hyeong Man’s car. The vehicle exploded soon after Ahn Oh Ju set fire to the documents in the
car.
Upon entering the warehouse, Bong Sang Pil
straightened his tie and cocked his head to the side, powerful and confident
body language, to give the gangster jitters before the fight.
Bong glowered at the 10 gangsters guarding Wu Hyeong Man who had been tied up and hung from an overhead iron bar which stretched across the ceiling. One of Bong Sang Pil’s specialties was his leaping kick. He loved leaping, kicking and punching. When leaping for the kill, Bong would punish his opponent with a violent kick and some brutal blows.
None of the gangsters could have moved half
so quickly as Bong Sang Pil.
The lawless lawyer executed the knee kicks and delivered a blizzard of blows. His combination of flexibility and speed was such that he was able to bring down even strong opponents speedily. ‘Swift as a thunderbolt’ would be an apt description of him.
When the gangsters were being distracted by
Bong Sang Pi’s fast and furious moves, Tae Kwang Soo ran to the back using
the other side of the disused factory. The factory was divided by a long
stretch of machinery.
The gangsters knew that they were done for if
Bong continued with his lethal kicks. He was thrusting them away like rag
dolls.

WING CHUN
ROD FIGHTING
When Tae Kwang Su was untying the ropes that held Wu Hyeong Man’s hands together, an armed gangster attacked him with his stick but Tae punched the guy to the floor. After untying Wu Hyeon Man, Tae helped him to his feet and led him away.
Bong Sang Pil charged at the gangsters with
all his might as if his life depended on it, delivering fast, sharp
and accurate kicks and punches at the lowlifes.
The fight of the gangsters graduated from
fistfights into fighting with weapons - sticks, bats and cylindrical iron
rods.
Fighting with A Rod. Although Bong could
easily defeat them with his powerful leg kicks and punches, he saw scant
reason in it. He would fight them at their own game.
When one of the punks attacked Bong with a
long stick, the latter kicked him and wrested the weapon from him.
Wing Chun. Leaping forward, Bong Sang Pil wielded his new weapon skilfully to bash them all. Was it Wing Chun? It was an electrifying sight. Fast. Furious. Ferocious.
After all the goons had been soundly
defeated, Bong ran after Tae Kwang Soo, who was almost dragging the lifeless
Wu Hyeong Man along. But, it was already too late.

EPISODE 9
THE PRISON LAUNDRY ROOM FIGHT
BONG SANG PIL v. SCORPION
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Scorpion, Choi Dae Woong’s righthand man
seemed to have displayed a shocking ignorance about Bong Sang Pil’s
character. During the prison's leisure hour, a grim and unfriendly Scorpion
demanded that Bong should follow him to the laundry room. Everyone in the
underworld suspected Bong of being the murderer of his uncle.
Bong could sense that they were heading for a
showdown. He was usually circumspect when it came to fights with one of his
own. The man was his uncle’s powerful assistant and a trusted elder in his
uncle’s inner circle.
Bong didn’t want to be embroiled in any
misunderstanding with Scorpion. Although he did not want to show disrespect,
he was wary and guarded.
In the laundry room, Bong Sang Pil was
cautious and vigilant. The physically imposing man, who was stocky and huge,
had become intimidating.
It seemed that Scorpion had kept track of what was happening in the outside world. Kwon Man Bae, the eyes and ears of Scorpion, had tarred and discredited Bong with his tales. The false evidence provided for his uncle’s murder case in the court trial pointed to Bong’s guilt. Scorpion, an experienced gangster, should have been suspicious about it.
That Bong Sang Pil did not instantly blow up
in a murderous rage was a measure of his respect and deference for the older
man. He did not doubt his instincts and knew something was wrong. Bong, on
seeing the quick frown and hostility, had hastened to explain that the trial
wasn’t over but the other man, seemingly pig-headed, refused to allow any
further explanation.
Bong, attuned to the rules of the underworld,
was awaiting the crunch. The rough-looking man verbally thrashed Bong for his
eloquent excuses, a result of his years of having honed his argumentative
skills as a lawyer. Some men had brains as big as a pea and Scorpion was
probably one of them.
Bong’s face was tense as he held his breath.
He bolstered up his strength and braced for the strike. The punch sent him
flying to a big clothes bin at the corner of the room.
Scorpion gave him a violent kick but Bong,
trying to avoid it, slumped onto the washbasin. Scorpion gripped his clothes
and flung him against the wall. The violent man expected Bong to fight back.
When Bong did not retaliate, the irrational
man tried to strangle him. Bong’s face was scrunched up in pain. He was a
victim of grievous injustice. He choked back the tears that threatened to
spill from his eyes when Scorpion applied suffocating pressure on him. The
man really meant business.
Jerking frantically, he tried to prise
himself out of the other man’s vice-like grip.
Defensive fighting was not the solution. Unable to bear the pressure any longer, he hollered with all his strength. He wrestled himself away and the force of his exertion threw Scorpion off.
But, before he could even recover, Scorpion
was back on his feet. He hit Bong but the lawyer was able to block the blow.
Bong socked it to the man but his punch was blocked; his arm was swept
aside.
Then, the punches flew fast and furious.
Bong, managing to grip Scorpion’s arm, turned
him around. Scorpion was angry that Bong had fought back. He lunged again at
Bong. Bong slid backwards.
Both traded punches. But, Bong found a moment
in the burst of punches when he was able to jump up on the back of his
opponent. Scorpion was hunched for a moment with Bong on his back.
The fighters seemed to be grappling and wrestling. Bong had, by then, encircled Scorpion’s chest with his arms in a back hold.
Scorpion tried to wrestle free. He was
indignant that Bong Sang Pil would not submit to him.
As the punches flew back and forth, the footwork was also fast and furious. They were trying to overwhelm each other with a free flow of jabs and punches.
Then, in a greased lightning move, grabbing
his opponent's arm with his left hand, his right hand swept to encircle
Scorpion's neck in a back choke. They struggled furiously. In an
effort to dislodge him, Scorpion arched his body.
The excitement rose as they struggled desperately.
In the end, the stout man grabbed hold of
Bong’s body and managed to push him unto a table cluttered with washing
utensils.
Being in a vulnerable position, Bong tried to protect himself as Scorpion let fly a series of punches. There was a lot of thrashing, pushing and pulling.
They wrestled but Bong understood that if he
did not let go, the fight would go on unabated.
Scorpion was determined to win; he had the intention to trounce Bong into submission. The pounding and the hammering would do nobody any good. Scorpion knew where his weapon lay. He grabbed a toothbrush and broke it, with the intention to stab Bong with it.
In that moment of truth, the anguished-filled
Bong decided to let go. It was a poignant moment. Least said, soonest
mended.
Reverse Psychology. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed Scorpion’s wrist to push the sharp weapon into his belly. Blood spilled out in rivulets, to the shock of the other man. Bong seemed to be pleading with Scorpion to believe him.
Two shocked inmates, who came upon them,
shouted for the guards.
Bong Sang Pil told Scorpion that it was the
only way for him to prove his innocence. He urged Scorpion to flee or the
guards would capture him.
Then, he slumped to the floor, crouching in pain.
The words of his uncle came back to haunt
him. ‘This topsy-turvy world is governed by the law of the jungle. There is
no one whom we can trust! Revenge begets revenge.’
Revenge against his nemesis, Ahn Oh Ju. Ahn
Oh Ju’s revenge against his beloved uncle. Scorpion’s, his uncle’s trusted
man, took revenge on him.
At length, Bong began to understand the deep meaning of those words. |
EPISODE 10
THE FIGHT IN THE HOSPITAL
BONG SANG PIL AND AHN OH JU
versus
THE HOODLUMS
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Bong Sang Pil was confined to the hospital
bed after his fight with Scorpion. In fact, he was chained to his bed as he
was still a prison inmate.
When Ahn Oh Ju arrived to taunt him, he was
helpless. Kwon Man Bae’s lackeys appeared to teach Bong Sang Pil a lesson.
Even the presence of the Ki Seong Mayor did not deter them as they had the
backing of Judge Cha Moon Sook.
The hospital was swarming with Kwon Man Bae's minions. The gang had invaded and taken control of the place.
Bong Sang Pil and Mayor Ahn Oh Ju had to
fight their way out of the hospital.
Bong Sang Pil, though still recuperating
from his injuries, launched his series of attacks with punches and leaping
kicks.
The fast and furious fight took them into
the lift.
He was in pain but he had to fight his way
out of the hospital. Mayor Ahn Oh Ju also had his fair share of fights and
injuries.
In the end, both were able to escape to
safety.

BONG SANG PIL AND HA JAE YI
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU BASICS
THE BJJ DANCE
Bong Sang Pil decided to
teach Ha Jae Yi some basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves. He wanted her to
learn to defend herself just in case there might come a time that she needed
to defend herself.
Ha Jae Yi’s mother had
pleaded with Bong to let her daughter go since his lifestyle was dangerous
and risky. One fine day, Bong Sang Pil led his beloved to the martial arts training
centre.
It is just so fascinating
to watch their fluid and dream-like dance movements. One would rather watch
than to describe the martial arts fight sequence. It seems so romantic!
But, there is this
burning question. ‘How did Lee Joon Gi learn to handle a
female fighter so expertly?’ Lee might have practised
with Seo Yea Ji for their fight sequence.
But, Lee Joon Gi seems so confident, deft
and so professional in his moves.

EPISODE 14
BONG SANG PIL
AND
THE LAWLESS LAW TEAM
THE NIGHTCLUB FIGHT
TAEKWONDO TORNADO KICK
TAEKWONDO FLYING SIDE KICK
The prelude to this very glitzy nightclub fight is amusing. Bong
Sang Pil and his humorous team were joking with each other. His team
members were praising his martial arts skills to the skies. They were on
their way to rescue Scorpion who had been captured by Kwon Man Bae and his
thugs.
Bong Sang Pil’s reputation had preceded him. All his underlings knew about his fighting prowess, heroic and daring exploits, including his reckless ferocity.
The cool and self-confident Bong Sang Pil joked about their motives of singing his praises. Were they trying to make him think that they wanted him to do all the fighting by
himself?
The interior design of the nightclub seemed
gaudy but some may beg to differ. Their argument is that it looks like the
product of creative and artistic thinking.
Bong looked swiftly around with a practiced
eye. Many thugs were lurking in the shadows. Some had sprung at them. The sight before him made him burn with an eagerness to topple the gangsters. His fingers itched to slap
the men into oblivion.
The fighting, as usual, was fast and
furious. Bong Sang Pil darted from his team and fought like one who was
driven by the necessity of haste and urgency. Many of the thugs, who had
collapsed in shuddering heaps, were gasping for breath. They were traitors of
the Dae Woong gang who had plotted against Bong Sang Pil.
The shapes of danger and menace were
everywhere. Bong had glided swiftly from one end of the room to the other and
struck deadly blows left and right. He jumped and he punched. The impact of
his fist and his kick knocked down many hoodlums.
He had even bounded up the stage to kick the
thugs away. He leapt. With great precision, he gave his most lethal attack, the leaping knee attack.
The first time he had raced to a nightclub,
a stylish and classy one, was to rescue the girl who was the most important
in his life. He was alone then. Now, he was in a glitzy nightclub to rescue
his uncle’s right-hand man and he had appeared with his team of fighters.
His men had done a good job. The opposing
group had been caught by surprise. The thugs were not able to scramble away.
Scorpion, who had escaped from their clutches, also joined in to thrash the gang
members who had once been his allies.
After leaping and kicking all the scoundrels
who had fallen back, Bong Sang Pil turned his attention to Kwon Man Bae. Why
would Kwon Man Bae hold Scorpion prisoner? They were brothers.
All arrogance had gone out of Kwon. He was
now held captive. Many of his minions, who had been bashed, were shivering with terror.

EPISODE 15
BONG SANG PIL
versus
AHN OH JU
BRAZILIAN JU JITSUI
GUILLOTINE CHOKE
The fight between Bong Sang Pil and Ahn Oh Ju, although quite
exciting, is long and complicated.
Bong had wanted the now ex-Mayor, whose reputation had been severely wrecked,
to be a witness for the defence. But, Ahn Oh Ju lived life mostly according
to his own terms. He would not allow anyone to dictate to him unless it was
to his advantage. The gangster boss had always wanted to fight Bong Sang Pil
to assert his dominance over him.
Even as a young child, Bong Sang Pil had defied him. Bong had even swallowed the memory card that he had wanted. As an adult, Bong Sang Pil had showcased even more courage than before. Ahn Oh Ju would only concede to attend court if Bong Sang Pil agreed to a physical fight.
Desperate to get him to court, there was no hesitation on Bong
Sang Pil’s part. The reluctant and defiant lawyer was compelled to abide by
the former mayor’s terms.
Both were fighters all their lives, and violent street fights were a staple in their life.
At first, Bong Sang Pil wanted to humour him but when he saw no end to it,
Bong was consumed with a furious desire to end the fruitless fight quickly. Sometimes, the martial arts moves were too fast for the eyes to follow. In the end, Ahn Oh Ju ended up with an injured arm.
Bong tore himself free as his victim sagged to the floor.
The untrustworthy man agreed to appear in court but renegaded
on his promise at the very last minute.

EPISODE 15
BONG SANG PIL
versus
SECRETARY KIM
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
FLYING ARMBAR
FLYING TRIANGLE CHOKE
The amazing fight between Bong Sang Pil and Secretary Kim was
short and swift. The later had not only betrayed his boss, Ahn Oh Ju but also
attempted to murder him.
Bong lost no time to bend the man to his will and severely
injure him. With one powerful leap, he brought the wicked betrayer down with
his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu flying armbar and flying triangular choke.
After his experience with Secretary Kim, Ahn Oh Ju realised
that his real enemy was Judge Cha Moon Sook as she had sent his former
secretary to kill him. It was obvious that she felt he was a threat to her position.
The drama ends on a sweet note that justice had prevailed. The
viewers breathe a sigh of relief.
The drama is an unforgettable showcase of Lee Joon Gi’s
spectacular martial arts talent. The scriptwriter has successfully weaved the
exciting and varied martial arts and action scenes seamlessly into the plot
and viewers are caught up and hypnotised by Lee Joon Gi’s agile and flexible
physicality. Most probably, they have been cheering, squealing, yelping and
biting their nails throughout the drama. Magical.
