  Director Lee Joon Ik and the ardent fans of The King and The Clown, a classic movie, celebrated its 19th anniversary with a commemorative movie screening in Yongsan on 1 December 2024. The multiple award-winning 2005 movie, which sold 12.3 million tickets in its 4 months of screening, is considered the greatest movie of all time in the history of Korean cinema. Lee Joon Gi catapulted into superstardom in Asia with his effeminate role of Gong Gil, the clown. It changed the trajectory of the then unknown young star's life forever. Lee Joon Ik, the director of the movie who attended the event, received congratulatory video messages from Lee Joon Gi, the leading actor, and the other major stars of the movie who were not physically present for the event. They promised to do so for the 20th anniversary event next year. The reunion of the director and the cast will be the most highly anticipated film event in 2025.
