It isn’t surprising that Lee Joon Gi has a magical and emotional human-animal bond with his pet chihuahua, Kabi. She likes his attention, loves to be petted and prefers his company to the company of other dogs. He named her Kabi because she is very playful. Kabi bonds with Lee in a way no other dog does; she has outlived his pet male chihuahua and has his full attention. Lee also has an affinity with other animals, especially with horses. This can be seen in his various projects like the one with The Star in 2021. The King of Saguek has worked rather well with different horses for his television series particularly, in historical ones.

In the interview with One Fine Day, the magazine which focusses on Lee’s Bali photoshoot in May 2024, Lee had to field questions on his pet female dog. The actor talks lovingly of his pet canine who is more than 12 years old. One can discern from the various images of the interaction between Lee and his pet dog that there is a glow in their eyes and this speaks volumes of their boundless love for each other.

‘Specifically, when do you find your pet most adorable?’ It is easy to answer. She greets him with excitement and happiness whenever he returns home. They understand each other completely as they spend a lot of time together. As Kinky Friedman says, ‘Money can buy you a fine dog but only love can make him wag his tail.’

Lee sadly divulges that Kabi is getting old and her health is failing. There is a touch of poignancy in what he says. ‘I want to give her all my love, as much love as I can till the end.’
