THE KING AND THE CLOWN TWELFTH ANNIVERSARY 2005 - 2017 On 17 December 2017, Lee Joon Gi, the star of The King and The Clown, and Lee Joon Ik, the director got together to celebrate the film’s twelfth anniversary. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bc1Mse9g0tn/?hl=en&taken-by=actor_jg Lee Joon Gi: Then and Now The King and The Clown which stars Lee Joon Gi, Kam Woo Sung and Jun Ji Young is a 2005 South Korean historical film about Yeongsan, the 10th Joseon king, considered to be the worst tyrant of all Korean history. Gong-gil, a beautiful and effeminate clown portrayed by Lee Joon Gi attracts the attention and favour of the tyrannical king when he, together with other clowns, performs a skit ridiculing the corrupt court officials. The King and The Clown, which was released on 29 December 2005, was chosen as South Korea’s official submission for the 2006 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
